<p class="contentpasted0"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">Next Tuesday's seminar speaker is Dr. April Carroll. She is one of the site leads at the Bayer facility in Marana and is also responsible for Bayer operations in the entire Western
US. She is an excellent person to talk about careers with as she has worked in both academia and industry so can speak to the differences between the two types of employment - something that most of us professors cannot. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="contentpasted0"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">We will be doing something different for next; there will be the regular lunch meeting (11:30 to 12:30) but will then host an open office session with Dr. Carroll from 10 to
11:30 am. During this time, you are welcome to stop by and ask any questions you have regarding careers in industry. I would encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about different career paths. This is a great time to bring your questions

<p class="contentpasted0"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:black">April Agee Carroll is the Nursery Design and Data Strategy Lead for Bayer Crop Science’s Pacific-West Trait and Pipeline Development team. Her team enables data-driven decisions
based on genomic analysis, crop performance and operations. Dr. Carroll’s career has spanned academia, big ag, and startup, formerly serving Purdue University as Director of Phenomics where she led design and launch of field and controlled environment phenotyping
facilities, with Corteva leading integrated -omics/phenotyping, and with AeroFarms as R&D lead on indoor urban farming. April is active in various scientific innovation, outreach and education efforts both inside Bayer and externally with the North American
Plant Phenotyping Network, Arnold & Mabel Beckman Foundation, and with Purdue as an adjunct faculty member. She has received numerous awards and was recently inducted as a Bayer Science Fellow, a company-wide distinction recognizing the top 5% of researchers
for their contributions across R&D, and was also honored as a Distinguished Woman in Data Science.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
