<div dir="ltr">Dear colleagues,<br><br><div>In spring 2014, the Graduate Student Program
Committee instituted five new awards to recognize outstanding activity by our
graduate students. We are delighted to congratulate the following students, who are the inaugural recipients of three of these awards:<br><br></div><div>Outstanding Dissertation, recognizing the quality of the dissertation and the contributions of the mentor: <br>

<br></div><div>Outstanding Service as a Teaching Assistant, recognizing teaching activities of the highest quality:<br></div><div>Kayla Arendt (advisors: Dave Baltrus and Betsy Arnold)<br><br></div><div>Awards for Outstanding Thesis and Outstanding Scholarly Achievement were not made this year. Please note that nominations for SPLS awards will be opened again in April 2015. <br>
