The program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in fields within NSF's mission. The GRFP provides three years of support for the graduate education of individuals who have demonstrated their potential for significant achievements in science and engineering research.<o:p></o:p></p><p><strong>Estimated Number of Awards:</strong> 2,000 new Fellowships will be offered pending availability of funds.<o:p></o:p></p><p><strong>Anticipated Funding Amount:</strong> Each Fellowship consists of three years of support usable over a five- year period. For each year of support, NSF provides a stipend of $30,000 to the Fellow and a cost-of-education allowance of $10,500 to the degree-granting institution.
