Hello fellow grad students,
I hope you are all hanging in there and looking forward to the Thanksgiving
break that is fast approaching! I wanted to send you all a few updates
about the SPLS retreat:
- Please register <https://splsretreat2024.godaddysites.com/> for the
retreat, which will be happening in ENR2 on 12/12/24 and 12/13/24!
- Thank you to everyone who voted in our Faculty Speaker poll. We were
able to invite and confirm the speakers who had the most votes: Dr. Mark
Beilstein and Dr. Rachel Gallery. They were honored that we invited them,
and I hope you all look forward to hearing about their research!
- Graduate students also have the opportunity to lead a breakout session
at this year’s retreat, providing a space to ensure our voices are heard.
This session allows us to discuss important matters, potential
improvements, and any issues in small groups made up of students, faculty,
and postdocs. To prepare, we need to propose the main topic we’d like to
address. *Please fill out the poll <https://forms.gle/m3B7WX542hLu7Z7LA>
to suggest a topic for the breakout session.* I look forward to your
ideas, and we’ll incorporate them into the program. Please submit your
suggestions by the end of the day on *Thursday (11/14/24)*, so I can
compile and send them to the retreat committee by the following morning.
Enjoy the rest of your day, and please let me know if you have any
questions!
Best,
Kelsey Pryze
