Dear All,
On February 27th Dr. Toshihiro Obata is speaking in the SPLS seminar series from University of Nebraska, Lincoln, his presentation is titled:
'Exploring the Connections between Genetic Variations, Primary Metabolism, and Crop Performance'
Abstract
Plant primary metabolism plays a crucial role in determining crop performance, which includes yield, environmental resilience, and nutritional values of crop products. While the impacts of photosynthesis and starch metabolism have been extensively studied, the roles of other metabolic pathways in crop performance are still not entirely clear. To identify metabolic pathways associated with crop performance and the genes regulating them, we used metabolite profiling by GC-MS to analyze the genetic diversity of metabolite accumulations in various crop species. In this seminar, I will present two of our current projects that investigate the metabolic diversities linked to rice grain phenotypes and those found in modern and ancestral maize kernels concerning their health-beneficial bioactivities.
His seminar will be in Marley 230 on Tue, Feb 27th at 4:00 PM (refreshments will be provided in the Marley Lobby at 3:30 PM).
