Dear graduate students,

I hope everyone is doing well as we approach the end of our busy semester. It's been a pleasure to see so many of you at our seminars and pre-seminar coffee this term, and I thank our SAPPS leaders for taking the time to meet with me earlier this fall. I hope everyone is looking forward to next week's retreat — I certainly am.

I'm writing just now to share an opportunity that has arisen for students in our graduate programs. We have been invited to nominate three graduate students to present at the 2025 Southwest Ag Summit in Yuma (https://yumafreshveg.com/southwest-ag-summit/#FEB22). The meeting runs Feb. 18-20, 2025, and attracts a large participation by industry, Extension, and other partners.

Selected students would present in a breakout session centering on plant pathology. Topics in plant pathology and plant microbiology are welcome. Students chosen to present would speak on Feb. 20 and would receive travel support for the meeting.

We have a short turn-around time on this invitation. If you are a student with an interest in connecting with the Ag Summit audience, have a body of research in ag-relevant plant microbiology or pathology, and would like to be considered, please send me a note by 5pm today (CCing your advisor, such that we have their permission to consider you). Please use arnold at ag.arizona.edu. Please include in your email your full name as it would appear in the program; your proposed title; and a short statement as to why this venue would be a good fit for your interests. Nominations will be forwarded to the organizers for review and selection.

Warm regards,
Betsy
