This course focuses on the practical application of multidisciplinary
scholarship that informs inclusive and equity-minded teaching practice in
higher education. Students will draw from evidence-based concepts and
scholarly discourses to develop and articulate their teaching philosophies,

lesson design, techniques to implement and assess active and collaborative

This 2-unit workshop-style course focuses on skills and knowledge for the
effective use of technology to motivate and interact with students, create
and organize information, guide and assess learning. Topics include visual
design, e-portfolios, generative AI, learning management systems,
multimedia, equity, creating meaningful learning experiences onsite and

IA 699: Independent Study
(1 Unit; Specific Offerings in Fall 2023)
Although individualized projects can be supported as per availability of
supervisors any semester for 1-3 units, this semester we are also offering
the following IA 699 courses:
Inclusive STEM Teaching Independent Study:
This 1-unit IA 699 course will take place as a 7-week course in the second
half of the Fall semester. It encompasses full participation and completion
of 1) the 6-week, asynchronous online CIRTL MOOC “The Inclusive STEM
Teaching Project”

Inclusive Excellence for College Instructors:
This Live Online, 1-unit IA 699 course will take place as a full-semester,
flipped learning course with a weekly discussion post based on reviewing
resources and a live session on Tuesdays from 11 am to 12:15 pm with
student activities (conjoined with students in IA 597d DEI in College
Teaching), completed with a structured end-of-semester self-assessment and
reflection. It focuses on applying multidisciplinary scholarship concepts,
strategies, and tools to your teaching practice. If you are interested,
