Subject: Recruiting Graduate Students for UA Inclusive STEM Teaching Project (Starts Oct. 3!)
Dear STEM graduate program coordinators,
We hope you will share the following announcement about this upcoming opportunity with your graduate programs. We are recruiting graduate students for this semester's NSF Inclusive STEM Teaching Project and hope some of your students will be interested in joining us. The course is a 6-week NSF-funded MOOC and local learning community with other UA grad students and faculty. The course begins Oct.3.
Thank you!

Want to learn more about inclusive teaching and have 6 weeks?
Inviting all STEM graduate students to enroll in the upcoming 6-week NSF-funded, CIRTL-designed Inclusive STEM Teaching Project<https://www.edx.org/course/the-inclusive-stem-teaching-project> online course (Oct. 3-Nov. 12) and, for those who would like a space to meet to discuss course materials once a week, UArizona learning community<https://uarizona.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_agGsIGY8rlOCvYy?jfefe=new> (Tuesdays 11-12 p.m. on Zoom)*. This national 6-week asynchronous course will introduce future faculty (if you're interested in teaching in higher ed, this is you!) to principles of inclusive teaching and help you apply these principles in tangible ways to you own teaching and learning contexts.
Students will receive certificates of completion for both the course and learning community!
Learning options include:
* Taking the course on your own
* Taking the course and attending a local UArizona learning community with other graduate students and faculty once a week (Tuesdays 11-12 pm on Zoom)*
* Taking the course and attending the learning community as part of a 1-credit independent study.
*Research shows that participants who meet weekly to talk about MOOCs with colleagues retain the information better, are more involved in the community, and complete the course at much higher rates.
To enroll in the course, please register on EdX using your UArizona email<https://www.edx.org/course/the-inclusive-stem-teaching-project> and sign up for the free option (all participants will receive a free certificate of completion from the course facilitators, so you do not need the official EdX certificate options).
Go here to sign up for the local UArizona learning community<https://uarizona.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_agGsIGY8rlOCvYy?jfefe=new> and/or mark your interest in the IA 699 Independent Study option.
