Greetings! We'd like to let you know about some of the resources available to our graduate TAs (and all educators).
There is a D2L Discover site available to support graduate TAs as they embark on their teaching journey. These materials cover a wide range of information from how people learn, ethics, and building assessments. These modules can be used by TA trainers or TAs directly and can be accessed by going to the D2L home page, clicking on the Discover toolbar, and searching "GTA Training Materials" to self-enroll in the course to access the materials, which include readings, videos, and other training materials.
We are also excited to announce that we have started a podcast! Knowing that graduate TAs are extremely busy, we wanted to provide a sense of community that could be accessed by TAs and other educators on their own time. Dr. Amy Graham, an accomplished and admired chemistry educator, discusses Productive Educational Practices with members of the educational community at the University of Arizona. Hear strategies for inclusive classrooms, the twisting journeys educators have taken, resources available on campus and more! While this began as a project geared at graduate student TAs, it is a great resource for even the most experienced educator to get new ideas and develop connections across campus.
