R basics - Data Cleaning and Wrangling with R

Time: 10:00am - 11:30pm

Scientific research data is messy. We sometimes have missing data, missing columns and rows which present problems in trying to make sense of the data. Other times, the format is wrong, or there are multiple spreadsheets to work from, making data analysis seem impossible. This workshop will introduce participants with no knowledge of R-programming to the basics of data cleaning and wrangling using the tidyverse package in R. This is a hands-on workshop and participants will learn to manipulate messy data using provided datasets. The workshop is aimed at undergraduates and graduate students in any STEM discipline interested in getting started with R. No prior knowledge of R-programming or statistics is required. The workshop will be held on zoom and the only requirements for the workshop is a good internet connection, zoom proficiency, a working computer with R and RStudio installed.
This workshop is part of the University Libraries' Digital Scholarship & Data Science Fellowship program.
