[Plsgs] KN95 Mask Distribution Info

Hello SPLS Graduate Students,

With the new mask mandate, the department is in the process of purchasing KN95 masks for all our graduate students. Previously, masks were to be provided for those teaching in-person classes, however we are planning to purchase masks for all of our graduate students. Once they come in, I will send out a notice to you all to arrange pick-up. In case you missed my email from yesterday:


There has been an update to the face covering requirements, while on campus.

Surgical or higher-grade face masks will now be required on campus (KN95, KF94 and N99):

  *   ALL indoor spaces where adequate and continuous social distancing can NOT be maintained
  *   Any building/facility where patients or human research subjects are seen in person
  *   All locations where PPE have always been required to maintain safety protocols or high hazard areas

Hi Jen & Amanda-

Can we please order KN-95 masks for each of our graduate students for the Spring 2022 semester?

Jen- I was hoping you could place the order to get at least 50 masks here asap (some also to have on hand in the business office- for emergencies, etc.)?

Amanda- can you please send out an announcement to the grads that we are in the process of purchasing them a masks and assist in coordinating they be distributed to everyone?

I agree that our University should make these improved masks available to everyone, including students, on campus.

Ramin, the google doc you sent us yesterday had this specific request to the administration. Do you know if it was already submitted to them? I wonder if that is what triggered today's email from UA President Robbins.

Thanks for trying, Amanda, for getting our TAs these masks. In the event, you are unsuccessful, may I suggest that our school step in and provide such masks to all our graduate students? Will it violate any rules or regulations to use our school funds for this purpose?
