Live Your Dream Climbing Grants from American Alpine Club
The Live Your Dream grant, powered by The North Face, was founded on the belief that our definitions of exploration and our goals are unique to each of us. Meaningful exploration isn’t limited to the highest peaks in the farthest reaches of the world. Your local gym, crag, and backyard mountains are equally important resources to help stoke inspiration for adventure. When we search out new experiences, overcome obstacles, and connect with each other, through exploration, we change ourselves. This grant supports the every-day adventurers who harness this mindset for their own exploration. We are looking for individuals who have a personally ambitious climbing goal, a desire to take their abilities to the next level, and want to share the power of exploration with their communities. Open to all ages, all experience levels, and all climbing disciplines—from bouldering to big walls, alpinism to ski mountaineering, peak bagging to bolt clipping, and everything in between—we encourage you to dream big, let curiosity lead you, and apply.

APS Congressional Science Fellowship
Public policy increasingly is determined by technical considerations. A perusal of the daily press — from page one through the health and business sections — illustrates that science is a major component of many issues with which Congress must grapple: global warming, energy policy, defense technologies, AIDS, pollution, communications technologies, and many, many more. It is the aim of the APS and AIP in sponsoring these fellowships to provide a public service by making available individuals with scientific knowledge and skills to Members of Congress, few of whom have a technical background. In turn, the program enables scientists to broaden their experience through direct involvement with the legislative and political processes. Fellows gain a perspective which, ideally, will enhance not only their own careers but also the physics community's ability to more effectively communicate with its representatives in Congress. Today's budget climate makes this ability of increasing importance as shrinking resources force hard choices between worthy projects.

Information Innovation Office (I2O) Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is issuing a RA inviting submissions of innovative basic or applied research concepts in areas of interest to the Information Innovation Office (I2O). This I2O RA is specifically focused on supporting research by computer science postdoctoral fellows to drive innovation in these following research topics: Computational Theory of Insecurity; Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge Discovery; Ego-Centric Emotion Recognition; Multi-Scale Models of Social Dynamics; Identifying Insecurity in Software of Unknown Provenance; Calming Advisor to Reduce Conflict Online; Rethinking Design through Imprecise Specifications; Software Source of Truth; and Evaluating Generative Common Sense Question Answering. I2O provides this funding opportunity to address challenges to the career planning processes of PhD graduates and the faculty hiring process of U.S. institutions of higher education that are emerging due to the pandemic. Because the pandemic has disrupted research and teaching at institutions of higher education, the employment prospects of the current cohort of PhD graduates has been severely adversely impacted. If left unaddressed, these adverse impacts will result in a shortfall in research-qualified individuals in computer science fields such as cyber security, software engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, human machine interaction, social network engineering, and others that are critical to U.S. national security and economic competitiveness. This RA is intended to mitigate these adverse impacts and enhance the health of the U.S. computer science research workforce moving forward.

Vaadia-BARD Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
The Vaadia-BARD Postdoctoral Fellowship program is designed to identify and support young scientists who will eventually become leaders in agricultural sciences and technologies in universities and research institutes in the United States and Israel. The primary objective of the fellowship is to enable these young scientists to acquire new skills and techniques while becoming professionally established in the agricultural research community. The program promotes cooperative agricultural research between postdoctoral fellows from one country (the United States or Israel) and established scientists from the other. Recipients will travel to the host country to carry out their research. BARD gives preference to applicants with innovative research topics that are relevant to agricultural issues.

  *   Deadline: January 18, 2021
  * Citizenship: U.S. and Israeli citizens

Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program Israeli Postdoctoral Scholars
The Zuckerman Israeli Postdoctoral Scholars Program provides additional support to Israeli PhD graduates who have been accepted to a postdoctoral program with a stipend at an American university. Preferably, candidates should apply to a university that provides more specialized training than they would find in Israel. Zuckerman Israeli postdoctoral scholars enjoy programming and activities specially organized for them by the Zuckerman STEM Leadership Program. Scholars are expected to return to the home campuses from which they earned their doctorates, and to visit other universities, where they will give talks and be interviewed by faculty and PhD students. They should share insights about their research and about the experience of collaborating with scientists in the United States.

  *   Deadline: March 31, 2021
  * Citizenship: Israeli citizenship or residency
