DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service Study Scholarship and Research Fellowship Information Session
DAAD Fellowships provide support for study in Germany. The following opportunities through DAAD are generally most relevant for graduate students: study scholarships (provide an opportunity to do independent study in Germany or to complete a full Master's degree), research grants (primarily to do doctoral research). As a partner university, DAAD encourages the UA to select one priority candidate. Priority candidates from partner universities receive preferential status in the general fellowship competitions and have a considerably higher likelihood of being selected. The information session will cover the basics of the study scholarship and research scholarships as well as the priority candidacy process. Contact Shelley Hawthorne Smith with questions (shellh at email.arizona.edu<mailto:shellh at email.arizona.edu>).

The program seeks to stimulate research on U.S. education issues using data from the large-scale, national and international data sets supported by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), NSF, and other federal agencies, and to increase the number of education researchers using these data sets. The program supports research projects that are quantitative in nature, include the analysis of existing data from NCES, NSF or other federal agencies, and have U.S. education policy relevance.
Eligibility: Must be U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident enrolled in a doctoral program

The work has to be done mainly in Germany, with a clear reference to the German environmental situation. The chosen topic is expected to be of high relevance and should contribute to solving problems in environmental and conservation efforts. Generally, all environmental issues are welcome who meet the above-mentioned criteria, i.e. in addition to the natural sciences and engineering, also applications from the social sciences, humanities, economics and law. Interdisciplinary topics that support a sustainable development, are especially welcome. The complexity of environmental problems requires interdisciplinary collaboration between different scientific disciplines. DBU expects good German skills from foreign applicants to allow their integration into the DBU scholars' network.
