The Hu Lab (thehulab.com<http://thehulab.com>) in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment (SNRE, https://snre.arizona.edu/) at the University of Arizona is seeking a PhD student to work on an interdisciplinary project to examine the sensitivity of southwestern forests to changes in precipitation dynamics. This project will include topics related to ecohydrology, plant ecophysiology, dendrochronology, and stable isotope biogeochemistry. In addition to resources through SNRE, the student will also work within the Laboratory of Tree Ring Research (LTRR, http://ltrr.arizona.edu). This is a fully funded PhD position and includes tuition waiver, salary stipend, and health insurance benefits.
We are looking for an enthusiastic student who can work long hours comfortably both in the field (often under inclement weather), as well as in the lab. Qualifications: Preferred MS degree in Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or Forestry, although a MS degree is not required. Applicants for this position should have a strong academic record and demonstrate the ability to work independently. Position will start fall 2018, although there is flexibility in the start date.
