[Plsgs] Important Grad Club Announcements / External Speaker Recommendation

Dear SPLS graduate students,

As you know, the graduate students in the PLS department get to invite one
external speaker per academic year on behalf of the graduate program.
Spots are already filling up for next semester, and so I have set up a
google doc where you can recommend an external speaker for the spring
semester.  Please place your recommendation by September 7th and then we
will vote on who to invite!

Below is the schedule for all Grad club events this semester:

*Krutch Garden Cleanup!  (Sunday, September 30, 8:00 - 10:00 am)*

   - Helping the campus arboretum team clean the Krutch garden (coffee and
   bagels provided)

*AZ Insect Festival (Sunday, October 21, 10:00 - 3:00 pm)*

   - Have a booth and will show kids hornworms, mites (under the
   microscope), and a plant-pollinator activity.

*AZ STEM adventure (Friday, November 16)*

   - Have a booth at Pima Community College and will have various plant
   science-related activities.

*SPLS Kickball Game (November ?)*

   - Students versus Faculty in an epic kickball showdown at
   Mansfield Park.  Date to be decided.

More details on each event as they draw closer.  Please mark them down in
your calendar!
