The University of Arizona Office of Digital Innovation and Stewardship (ODIS) seeks a Graduate Assistant (GA) to work .5 FTE on-site to collaborate with the Data Science Specialist and library staff to maintain and grow data science literacy efforts at the University of Arizona. The GA will work to develop programs within the University Libraries and partner with other data science educators on campus. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with faculty in and out of the library, and independently execute programs and initiatives.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES
* Develop and participate in programming including, but not limited to:
* Workshops
* Training sessions
* Assess data science needs and develop programs to meet those needs
* Perform regular landscape scans for data science resources and training
* Meet on a regular basis with supervising faculty librarians
* Reporting to supervisors as required; fulfilling all tasks as required

* Other duties, as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
* Experience with hands-on, interactive curriculum delivery methods
* Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis
* Good communication skills and collaborative work ethic
* Respectful, appropriate behavior
* Punctuality and proper time management
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work in a highly collaborative and inclusive environment, one that values and leverages the benefits of diverse perspectives

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Meet the GA Eligibility Requirements (see below):
* Be a graduate degree-seeking student at the University of Arizona (newly admitted or continuing student);
* Be enrolled for a minimum of 6 units of graduate credit while fall and spring classes are in session (undergraduate or audit courses not included);
* Have an admitting GPA of 3.0 or higher (if a new student) or maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA (for all University of Arizona graduate credit courses) during each major academic term (fall or spring);
* Graduate students classified as international students should confer with the International Student Programs and Services at: http://internationalstudents.arizona.edu/ to determine their eligibility for a GA position.
* Be a degree seeking graduate student in at the University of Arizona (newly admitted or continuing student).
* Must be comfortable working with undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff.
* Must be comfortable with having a role of responsibility, working independently and exhibit initiative.
* Ability to work .50 FTE (20 hours per week) onsite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with programming languages such as python or R
* Experience with data analysis tools and methodology
* Experience with experimental design and analysis
* Management experience or the ability to supervise others
