International Education Week
International education advances cultural understanding and the protection of cultural heritage while also preparing individuals to work in a global society. Honoring those benefits and others associated with international education and global exchange, the UA is hosting a series of events during International Education Week (IEW), which is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education established in 2000. Highly Recommended Spring 2018 Course-Survival Skills and Ethics
I can’t recommend this course enough! Survival Skills and Ethics (SLHS 649; 3 units; Wednesdays, 3:00-5:50 pm) is a course designed for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in all disciplines. It covers topics such as effective speaking and writing, authorship, publication, peer review, grant writing, research compliance, teaching and mentoring, applying and interviewing for jobs, CV and resume building, and ethics. Also, upon completion of the course, you earn a Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) certificate and fulfill partial requirements for the Certificate in College Teaching and Certificate in Science Communication. Alfred Fleishman, one of our agency’s founders, was dedicated to promoting human rights and helping people from diverse backgrounds communicate with and understand one another. In his honor, Fleishman Hillard offers the Alfred Fleishman Diversity Fellowship program. The program targets ethnically diverse candidates and applicants who have a passion for ethnic or cultural diversity. All applicants must demonstrate a commitment to promoting ethnic and cultural diversity through their work, education and life experiences. It provides six- to 12-month paid Fellowships — with benefits — professional development opportunities and a mentor program. Center for Reintegration Scholarships
Reintegration is an achievable goal and dreams are possible for those who have been touched by mental illness. The Center for Reintegration together with the Sidney R. Baer Jr. Foundation will continue to offer the Baer Reintegration Scholarship for those active in their recovery. These scholarships are for persons with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder. Inter-American Foundation IAF Grassroots Development Fellowship Program
IAF’s Fellowships provide support for Ph.D. candidates to conduct dissertation research in Latin America and the Caribbean on topics related to grassroots development. Funding is for between four and 12 months. With a mission to identify, train, connect, and inspire a new generation of leaders dedicated to transforming America's education system so that all students receive a quality education, Education Pioneers has been building a nationwide network of high-potential professionals and supporting them to launch non-teaching education careers since 2004. Carter Manny Award in Architecture
Since the Carter Manny Award’s establishment in 1996, over $560,000 has been awarded in recognition of outstanding doctoral students whose work represents some of the most innovative and advanced scholarship on architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society. The Carter Manny Award supports dissertation research and writing by promising scholars whose projects focus on fields of inquiry supported by the Graham Foundation: architecture; architectural history, theory, and criticism; design; engineering; landscape architecture; urban planning; urban studies; visual arts; and other related fields. The award is intended to assist students enrolled in graduate programs in architecture, art history, and other programs in the fine arts, humanities, and social sciences. Donald M Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship
The Payne Program is designed to attract outstanding young people to careers in international development as USAID Foreign Service Officers.  The Payne Fellowship Program provides benefits valued at up to $93,000 over two years toward a two-year master’s degree, arranges internships in Washington D.C. and at USAID missions overseas, and provides professional development and support activities. AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program
This highly competitive program strengthens the connections between scientists and journalists by placing advanced undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate level scientists, engineers and mathematicians at media organizations nationwide. Fellows have worked as reporters, editors, researchers, and production assistants at such media outlets as the Los Angeles Times, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, WIRED, and Scientific American. The Mass Media Fellows use their academic training in the sciences as they research, write and report today's headlines, sharpening their abilities to communicate complex scientific issues to non-specialists. Participants come in knowing the importance of translating their work for the public, but they leave with the tools and the know-how to accomplish this important goal. For 10 weeks during the summer, the AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows collaborate with media professionals at radio and television stations, newspapers, and magazines. As part of their job, the student-scientists and their host-journalists strive to make science news easy for the public to understand. The fellowship program is designed to enhance coverage of science-related issues in the media in order to improve public understanding and appreciation of science and technology.

IDEA WILD Conservation Research Equipment Grants
IDEA WILD seeks to minimize the loss of biodiversity by empowering people on the front lines of conservation by awarding small equipment grants to conservation professionals around the world. These equipment grants advance biological research, conservation education, community outreach, conservation management, field training, and professional development in areas where it is needed most. By empowering both aspiring and veteran conservation professionals, IDEA WILD has been instrumental in establishing new protected areas, reversing the decline of species through innovative management plans, restoring damaged and critical habitat, and improving how local communities support and sustain their immediate natural resources. Link Foundation - Advanced Stimulation & Training Fellowships

For more than 20 years, the Mickey Leland Energy Fellowship (MLEF) Program has provided students with fellowship opportunities to gain hands-on research experience with the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy. National Institute of Justice Graduate Research Fellowship Program in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
The Graduate Research Fellowship in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (GRF-STEM) track is open to doctoral students in STEM fields of study. NIJ — the research, development and evaluation agency of the U.S. Department of Justice — is dedicated to improving knowledge and understanding of crime and justice issues through science. UA Water Resources Research Institute Small Research Grants
The University of Arizona’s Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) invites proposals for research grants under the Water Resources Research Act, Section 104(b). Proposals are requested for research that explores new ideas to address water problems in Arizona and expand understanding of water and related phenomena. Grants of approximately $10,000 will fund projects for 12 months.

U.S. Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program
NOAA's Office of National Marine Sanctuaries is seeking applications for the Dr. Nancy Foster Scholarship Program from individuals, particularly women and minorities, who, due to financial constraints, may otherwise not be able to pursue an advanced degree in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archaeology (including all science, engineering, social science, and resource management of ocean and coastal areas). The program seeks to increase the number of women and minorities in these scientific disciplines, particularly as they relate to the mission of the Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS). The Office of National Marine Sanctuaries conducts, sponsors, and facilitates research to better understand ecosystems and cultural resources in marine sanctuaries, their changing condition, and the significance of threats.

William G. McGinnies Graduate Scholarship in Arid Lands Studies
A Graduate Scholarship in Arid Lands Studies was established in 1985 by the faculty of the Office of Arid Lands, Water, and People at the University of Arizona, in honor of Dr. William G. McGinnies, our founder. The intent of the McGinnies Graduate Scholarship is to provide additional support to graduate students whose dissertation research concerns physical and biological processes in the world's arid and semiarid lands. The annual scholarship award is $2,500 and is celebrated with a luncheon at the historic Arizona Inn.

The Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education directs a postdoctoral fellowship program that offers supervised research experience in tobacco control with members of the Center faculty. Each trainee meets regularly with a faculty mentor regarding research progress and career or professional issues. We offer diverse educational and research opportunities, including postdoctoral fellowships, graduate research positions, advocacy training, and individualized documents training. Our work spans policy and historical research, economics, and science.

Smithsonian Biodiversity Genomics Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
The Smithsonian Institution (SI) Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biodiversity Genomics promotes collaborative research in these fields involving comparative genomic approaches such as phylogenomics, population genomics, metagenomics or transcriptomics, and have a component that involves significant bioinformatics analysis. The fellows selected will participate in the newly formed Smithsonian Institute for Biodiversity Genomics (SIBG), a pan-institutional program designed to stimulate and create opportunities for biodiversity genomics research at the Smithsonian.  The SIBG guides and facilitates genomics research within traditional strengths of the Smithsonian, including studies of the tree of life, ecology, evolution and adaptation, and conservation. The Smithsonian’s molecular research facilities are located at National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), National Zoological Park (NZP), Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC), and the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) in the Republic of Panama. Collaboration among SI facilities is encouraged.

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Postdoctoral Programs
The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution offers several types of postdoctoral awards. A term appointment to the position of Postdoctoral Scholar, Fellow, or Investigator may be offered to an individual who has completed the requirements for a Ph.D. degree. The degree may or may not have been officially awarded; a letter from the individual's university asserting that he or she has completed all of the requirements for the degree is satisfactory for establishing eligibility for the position. Each type of postdoctoral appointment has a slightly different selection and appointment procedure.
