Students for Affordable Tuition
Students for Affordable Tuition is a grassroots movement organization fighting for student-debt awareness and raising state funding for our community colleges and public universities. Our club activities include: running an advocacy campaign, calling legislators about specific policies, collecting signatures, and speaking at the capitol in Phoenix to ensure student voices are heard. Graduate students have more technical training and life experience, but are more burdened with student-debt than the typical undergraduate student. Students for Affordable Tuition is asking all graduate students who care about the issues affecting them to come to one of our meetings in Psychology 305 at 5:30 PM on Wednesdays.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our UofA Director at mmata1 at email.arizona.edu<mailto:mmata1 at email.arizona.edu>.
2017-18 Space Grant Graduate Fellowships
The UA/NASA Space Grant Steering Committee is soliciting applications for the 2017-18 Space Grant Graduate Fellowships
We seek new and continuing UA graduate STEM students with interests addressing any aspect of NASA's mission (including elements as diverse as Space and Earth Sciences/Engineering, Science Policy, and Science Education) and are interested in promoting the understanding of scientific research to the public. The fellowship, co-sponsored by UA/NASA Space Grant and the applicant's nominating Department, includes a stipend of $16,000 for one or two years, both in- and out-of-state fee/tuition waivers, student health insurance, and $750/year for travel to professional meetings. Though award totals vary based on individual circumstances (whether the student requires/utilizes the out-of-state tuition waiver, numbers of enrolled class units, etc.), 2016 fellowships range in value from $24,130-$49,124.
Applications--including a transcript, two letters of recommendation, letters of support (optional) from those cooperating in the education outreach effort, and the Department Head's signature committing to the departmental cost share--are due in the Space Grant Office (Room 349, Kuiper Space Sciences Building) by Monday, March 20, 2017. Awards for fall 2017 will be announced on or around March 31.
You may learn more at an information session at a date TBA in March-the date will be posted on the Space Grant website calendar in the near future-where our current graduate fellows will give presentations on their FY 2016 educational outreach programs. If you plan to propose to the program, attending the session is highly recommended.
The application form and more detailed information on eligibility and fellowship requirements may be found on our website<http://spacegrant.arizona.edu/opportunities/fellowships>. Please note, per the terms of our grant, you must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.

We sing a wide range of choral works, including classical, folk, spiritual, novelty, Broadway, and seasonal music. We perform several times each year on campus and around the Tucson area.
We rehearse on Mondays and Thursdays, 12:10-12:50 pm, in the Music Building, Room 106.
Come join us anytime.
Take a singing break twice a week with the Faculty-Staff Choir and enjoy fellowship with UA employees and grad students through choral music! To learn more, visit our website<http://facultystaffchoir.arizona.edu/home>
or email UAfscpresident at gmail.com<mailto:UAfscpresident at gmail.com>. Yes, grad school is a busy time, but remember: if you're too busy to sing, you're too busy.
