Call for GPSC Travel Grants Program Judges, January/March Round
The GPSC Travel Grants Program would like to invite you to participate in the Travel Grants application review process, an essential part of our program's competitive grant funding process. Why serve as a judge?
1) You can formulate a more competitive application for future rounds by reviewing actual applications
2) You have something additional to write in the service area of your CV or resume
3) You will get an insider's perspective on an evaluation process similar to major granting agencies like NSF/NIH/NEH
4) You can be involved in a small but central part of student governance

If you agree to serve as a judge, you will be contacted during the second week of March with applications to review. Graduate/Undergraduate Team Industry Engagement Awards (UA)
These awards are available to match a new UA industry-sponsored agreement with support for graduate research. The industry partner will fund the first academic semester of the graduate assistantship and the Office for Research & Discovery will fund the second, as well as support the undergraduate assistants for the two-semester duration. The purpose of this assistantship is threefold: to catalyze new, funded research between University researchers and industry or to enhance competitiveness for University-industry efforts in the pursuit of external funding opportunities of mutual interest; to enhance the preparation of graduate and undergraduate students to work in an industry environment, as well as to gain experience supervising and mentoring an interdisciplinary team of undergraduates; and to provide undergraduates an intensive research experience in an interdisciplinary team environment oriented toward industry.

Graduate/Undergraduate Team Interdisciplinary Research "Link" Awards (UA)
These awards are available to an interdisciplinary co-principal investigator team and cover half the cost, including salary and tuition, of a 0.50 full-time equivalent Graduate Research Assistantship and two undergraduate student researchers to support interdisciplinary efforts that will lead to new funding opportunities. In addition, the Link award can include up to $5,000 in Office for Research & Discovery core facility usage credits to cover approved user fees and support for an undergraduate student for two semesters.

Health Policy Research Scholarship
A new leadership development opportunity for full-time doctoral students from underrepresented populations or historically disadvantaged backgrounds training to be researchers and interested in health policy research. The goal of this program is to create a large cadre of diverse scholars whose research, connections, and leadership will inform and influence policy toward a Culture of Health. Health Policy Research Scholars is not intended for students pursuing a clinical doctorate without a research focus. Rather, the program is designed for doctoral students from a variety of social sciences (e.g., urban planning, health, economics, ethnography, education, social work). Each year the program will select up to 50 first- or second-year doctoral scholars pursuing research-focused degrees in an eligible discipline that can advance a Culture of Health. Participants receive an annual stipend up to $30,000 for up to four years and are eligible for a competitive dissertation grant of up to $10,000.

Japanese Association of University Women (JAUW) International Fellowship Program
The Japanese Association of University Women (JAUW) announces the availability of fellowships for women who are carrying out or would like to carry out independent research or advanced study at the postgraduate level in Japan. Applicants must have received a Master's degree or its equivalent and/or be in the pre-doctoral or dissertation level of a PhD program. Applicants must have an acceptance letter from a host institution in Japan.

Funding Opportunities in the Humanities/Arts/Social Sciences
American Indian Studies Dissertation Writing Fellowship Yale University
The Fellowship will support a graduate scholar in any doctoral field for the academic year, beginning August 1, 2014 and ending July 31, 2015. Graduate students working towards careers in higher education who have completed all doctoral requirements but the dissertation are invited to apply. The expectation is that the dissertation will be completed during the fellowship year. The criteria for selection will be based solely on an assessment of the quality of the candidate's work and the project's overall significance for the study of American Indian and Indigenous Studies. The Roe Cloud Fellowship will provide support comparable to that for Yale University graduate students, including an annual stipend, full access to Yale facilities and services, and health care coverage. The fellow will work in close affiliation with the Ethnicity, Race, and Migration Program and have access to Yale's exceptional research libraries.

Coordinating Council for Women in History (CCWH), Catherine Prelinger Award
The CCWH Catherin Prelinger Award is a scholarship of $20,000 which will be awarded to a scholar of excellence. This award is intended to enhance the work of a contemporary scholar whose academic path has not followed the traditional path of uninterrupted study, moving from completed secondary, to undergraduate, then graduate degrees, followed by a tenure-track faculty position. This award is intended to enhance the ability of the recipient to carry on the traditions of exploration of women's history, encouraging opportunities for women in the historical profession and educating young women to pursue careers in the historical profession. Eligible applicants must be members of the CCHW and must hold either A.B.D. status or the Ph.D. at the time of application.

International Foundation for Electoral Systems - Hybl Fellowship
The William and Kathy Hybl Fellowship Program at the International Foundation for Electoral
Systems (IFES) brings outstanding graduate students to the Washington, D.C. area each year to conduct research in democracy development, election administration, and civic participation in the political process. Previous fellows have found the Hybl Fellowship to be an excellent boost to their careers in international development or research. Hybl Fellows have direct access to IFES experts in democracy-building and research and benefit from Washington, D.C.'s wide network of democracy professionals, institutions, and resources. The Hybl Fellowship is open to students who have completed their undergraduate studies and who are working towards a graduate degree in international relations, political science, public administration or a related area.

Phil Zwickler Memorial Research Grants for the Human Sexuality Collection
Cornell University Library's Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections (RMC) is accepting applications for the Phil Zwickler Memorial Research Grants, which provide financial assistance to scholars conducting research on sexuality. Any researcher with a project that can be augmented by research in the Human Sexuality Collection, a program in the RMC that encourages the study of sexuality and sexual politics by preserving relevant primary sources that document historical shifts in the social construction of sexuality, and related sources is eligible to apply. Department of Energy Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program
The goal of the Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) program is to prepare graduate students for science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers critically important to the DOE Office of Science mission, by providing graduate thesis research opportunities at DOE laboratories. The SCGSR program provides supplemental awards to outstanding U.S. graduate students to pursue part of their graduate thesis research at a DOE laboratory in areas that address scientific challenges central to the Office of Science mission. The research opportunity is expected to advance the graduate students' overall doctoral thesis while providing access to the expertise, resources, and capabilities available at the DOE laboratories. The SCGSR program provides supplemental funds for graduate awardees to conduct part of their thesis research at a host DOE laboratory in collaboration with a DOE laboratory scientist within a defined award period. The award period for the proposed research project at DOE laboratories may range from 3 to 12 consecutive months.

CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is seeking applicants for the 2017 class of the CDC Evaluation Fellowship Program. This is the 7th year of this initiative, and represents a major commitment by CDC to program evaluation and program improvement. Fellows work under the leadership of CDC's Chief Evaluation Officer; they will be matched with CDC host programs in Atlanta to work on program evaluation activities for/with those programs. National Endowment for the Humanities Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication
Through NEH-Mellon Fellowships for Digital Publication, the National Endowment for the Humanities and The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation jointly support individual scholars pursuing research projects that require digital expression and digital publication. To be eligible for this special opportunity, an applicant's plans for digital publication must be essential to the project's research goals.
