Dear Dr. Wing,

On June 1, a group of students at the University of Maryland have initiated an effort to crowdfund sequencing the genome of the fern, Marsilea vestita. This will be a one month effort.

As there are only a few fern genomes, we believe this will further the field of Comparative Evolutionary Genomics.
