Carson Scholar Program - UA Only
The Carson Scholars Program cultivates and advances interdisciplinary environmental scholarship at the University of Arizona. The program is designed to build a network of graduate students and faculty devoted to furthering knowledge and awareness of Earth's natural environment and its interactions with people. The program also encourages individual initiative, innovation, and communication. Carson Scholars, through their emphasis on excellence in interdisciplinary environmental scholarship, problem-solving, and communicating science to a broad audience, will become leaders in the advancement of collaborative solutions to environmental challenges among the public, private, NGO, and academic sectors. The Carson Scholars Program offers one-year, one-time-only, $5,000 graduate scholarships. The scholarships are designed to support and retain University of Arizona PhD students whose research is related to the environment, social justice and renewable energy and who are interested in communicating science to a broad audience.

Christine Mirzayan Science and Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program
The Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program provides early career individuals with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the Academies in Washington, DC learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. Each year, applicants from around the world become part of an Academies' committee, board, or unit where they are assigned to a mentor and learn about the world of science and technology policy. An immersive experience, the program is designed to broaden fellows' appreciation of employment opportunities outside academia and leave them with both a firm grasp of the important and dynamic role of science and technology in decision-making and a better understanding of the role that they can play in strengthening the science and technology enterprise for the betterment of mankind.

The National Hispanic Health Foundation, affiliated with the Robert F. NSF Science of Science & Innovation Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants
The Science of Science & Innovation Policy (SciSIP) program supports research designed to advance the scientific basis of science and innovation policy. The program funds research to develop models, analytical tools, data and metrics that can be applied in the science policy decision making process and concern the use and allocation of scarce scientific resources. The Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants funding opportunity is designed to improve the quality of dissertation research. DDRIG awards provide funds for items not normally available through the student's university such as enabling doctoral students to undertake significant data-gathering projects and to conduct field research in settings away from their campus.

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Thirty Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans will be awarded on the basis of a single national competition. Each fellowship supports up to two years of graduate study - in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program - in the United States. Each award is for up to $25,000 in maintenance grants and up to $20,000 in tuition support for each year of graduate study supported. Applicants must not yet be 31 years old, as of the application deadline and not beyond their second year, if already enrolled, in a graduate degree program.

Singapore International Graduate Award to Get a PhD in Singapore
The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) was first conceived to foster a vibrant and culturally diverse research community in Singapore. A joint collaboration between A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS) and Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), the SINGA welcomes all international students to pursue a PhD education in Singapore. Under the SINGA, students will receive PhD training at their chosen lab at A*STAR Research Institutes or one of the three top universities in Asia - NUS, NTU or SUTD. Students will work in a multi-cultural environment, alongside distinguished and world-renowned researchers in state-of-the-art facilities. Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center Research Fellowship
In 2010, SQCC established its Research Fellowship Program, which aims to promote and cultivate scholarly research about Oman across several academic disciplines. The fellowship is open to PhD candidates and university academics who are US citizens or affiliated with an American university, and funds one scholar or team of scholars to carry out research in Oman each year. The fellowship awards up to $51,000 for the fellow or team of fellows.

18th Street Arts Center's Visiting Artist Residency Program
The program in Santa Monica, CA hosts artists from across the United States and from around the world. There are four live/work artist studios at the center where artists are in residence from 1 to 3 months at a time (sometimes longer). This program hosts artists of all disciplines as well as art curators, writers, and musicians. It includes invited artists as well as artists selected through an application process.

American Psychological Association Dissertation Research Award
The Science Directorate of the American Psychological Association sponsors an annual competition for dissertation research funding. The purpose of the Dissertation Research Award program is to assist science-oriented doctoral students of psychology with research costs. The current program includes 30-40 grants of $1,000 each, along with several larger grants of up to $5,000 to students whose dissertation research reflects excellence in scientific psychology.

Christine Downing Dissertation Fellowship (Depth Psychology and Mythology)
The purpose of the Downing Fellowship will be to award an annual scholarship to dissertation students of any accredited graduate level institution in the fields of depth psychology and mythology. Once awarded, the winning student must use the collections at OPUS for a significant amount of her or his dissertation research. The archival collections available for research at OPUS include Joseph Campbell, Marija Gimbutas, James Hillman, Jane and Joseph Wheelwright, Christine Downing, Marion Woodman, Adolf Guggenbühl-Craig, and Katie Sanford.

Geography and Spatial Sciences Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Awards
The Geography and Spatial Sciences Program supports basic research about the geographic distributions and interactions of human, physical, and biotic systems on Earth. Investigators are encouraged to propose plans for research about the nature, causes, and consequences of human activity and natural environmental processes across a range of scales. Projects about a broad range of topics may be appropriate for support if they offer promise of enhancing fundamental geographical knowledge, concepts, theories, methods, and their application to societal problems and concerns. As part of its effort to encourage and support projects that explicitly integrate education and basic research, GSS provides support to improve the conduct of doctoral dissertation projects undertaken by doctoral students enrolled in U.S. universities when the dissertation research is conducted in a scientifically sound manner and it offers strong potential for enhancing more general scientific knowledge.

Grammy Museum Grants Project
With funding generously provided by The Recording Academy, the GRAMMY Foundation Grant Program awards grants each year to organizations and individuals to support efforts that advance the archiving and preservation of the music and recorded sound heritage of North America, and research projects related to the impact of music on the human condition. Grant funds have been utilized to preserve private collections as well as materials at the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian and numerous colleges and universities. Research projects have studied the links between music and early childhood education, treatments for illnesses and injuries common to musicians, and the impact of music therapy on populations from infants to the elderly. More than $7 million in grants has been awarded to nearly 400 recipients.

History and Philosophy of Medicine Fellowships
The fellowships are intended to attract scholars to the Clendening Library and University of Kansas Medical Center Archives who will carry out research in the history of medicine, nursing, allied health and related sciences. The Department will grant fellowships to interested scholars whose research topics are well-suited to the varied collections housed in the library and archives. The Department intends to grant fellowships with the aim of attracting scholars from a wide range of academic levels, including professors, independent researchers, graduate students in the dissertation stage of their degrees, and postgraduate students pursuing advanced scholarship. The department will grant fellowships for a period of two to four weeks. The amount of the fellowships will be $500.00 per week for 2-4 weeks, with a maximum of $2,000.00, to cover expenses, with an additional one-time travel stipend of $500 for scholars from outside of the Kansas City area

Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship in Entrepreneurship
The Kauffman Foundation will award up to 20 Dissertation Fellowship grants of $20,000 each to Ph.D., D.B.A. or other doctoral students for the support of dissertations in the area of entrepreneurship. This fellowship is intended for students who are in the process of formulating their dissertation proposals, as well as doctoral candidates with recently approved dissertation proposals. While dissertations can be written on any topic of importance to entrepreneurship, the Kauffman Foundation is particularly interested in regional dynamics and local ecosystems, demographic dimensions of entrepreneurship, economic growth, entrepreneurship policy, declining business dynamism, future of work, economic inequality and mobility, and programmatic research.

Ucross Foundation- Artist Residencies
Founded in 1981, the Ucross Foundation provides uninterrupted time, work space, and living accommodations to competitively selected visual artists, writers, and composers. Residencies vary in length from two weeks to six weeks. At any one time, there are up to nine individuals in residence, representing a mix of visual artists, writers, and composers. In most cases, studios are separate from living quarters. Most meals are provided, and there is cell phone service on the property as well as wireless Internet connection for resident use. Residents are responsible for providing their own working materials and for their travel to Sheridan, Wyoming. There is no charge for a residency. Artists, writers, and composers from the United States and around the globe in any stage of their professional careers are invited to apply.

DEED student research grants and internships support students studying in energy-related disciplines, increase awareness of career opportunities in public power, and provide assistance to DEED member utility sponsors. Students must be sponsored by a DEED member utility and are required to write an abstract and final report at the completion of the project.

Alcohol Research Group - Public Health
The Alcohol Research Group postdoctoral training program is oriented toward the pursuit of alcohol-related social science, health services, and epidemiological research. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund-ASTMH Postdoctoral Fellowship in Tropical Infectious Diseases was established in 1999 to support career development of physician/scientists focused on infectious diseases of the developing world. Thanks to a generous grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, these fellowships provide funding for selected individuals to conduct research in tropical infectious diseases (and, on occasion, other clinical conditions unique to tropical medicine). The fellowship is designed to stimulate or sustain interest in research in tropical infectious diseases by individuals who are planning academic or other career paths ultimately focused on clinical research relevant to tropical or developing areas of the world.

Harvard University Society of Fellows
The purpose of the Society is to give men and women at an early stage of their scholarly careers an opportunity to pursue their studies in any department of the University, free from formal requirements. They must be persons of exceptional ability, originality, and resourcefulness, and should be of the highest caliber of intellectual achievement, comparable to successful candidates for junior faculty positions at leading universities. NASA Translational Research Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship
The Translational Research Institute leads a national effort to apply cutting-edge terrestrial research to spaceflight human-risk-mitigation strategies for long-duration exploration missions.
