STREAM ECOLOGY
Fall 2016
TTH 9:30-10:45AM
WFSC 471/571
Streams are highly dynamic, disturbance-prone ecosystems that support diverse and interesting biological communities. In this course, we will examine how stream ecosystems are shaped by natural flow regimes (e.g. floods and droughts) and anthropogenic disturbance (e.g. dams). We will also take a landscape perspective and explore how stream ecosystems interact with neighboring riparian and terrestrial systems. Finally, we will learn approaches for using streams and their resident biota as indicators of ecological health.
