Genetics and EEB are jointly hosting Dr. Francisco Ayala for this year's Kidwell Distinguished Lecture in Evolutionary Genetics. Please join us for the following events during Dr. Ayala's March 8-10 visit.
The Inaugural Kidwell Distinguished Lecture in Evolutionary Genetics on Wednesday, March 9th from 3:00pm-5pm at Stevie Eller Dance Theater.
Dr. Francisco J. Ayala will present "Darwin's Revolution: From Natural Theology to Natural Selection". Dr. Ayala is a University Professor and Donald Bren Professor of Biological Sciences, Professor of Philosophy, and Professor of Logic and the Philosophy of Science at the University of California, Irvine. In addition to his pioneering work in population and evolutionary biology, he is one of the founders of the field of philosophy of biology and is well known for his perspective on the compatibility of science and religion.
Dr. Ayala to introduce Mendel lecturer Tuesday at 6:00 - ENR2 S107. See attached fliers
Mendel Day 2016 on March 8 from 4-7 p.m. at ENR2 Room S107 and Courtyard.
Events will include:
4-5 p.m.: Neurogenetics Data Blitz presented by UA Neuroscience Graduate Interdisciplinary Program
5-5:30 p.m.: Reception
5:30-6 p.m.: Description of Mendel Day concept by Robert Karn, and "The Scientific Method: Darwin and Mendel" by Dr. Francisco Ayala
6-7 p.m.: "On Mendel and His Peas: Experimental Data Refuting Allegations of Scientific Misconduct" by Dr. Daniel Fairbanks, Mendel Medal winner
