Ombuds Program

The UA Ombuds Program offers a safe and confidential space for talking through and constructively addressing concerns, challenges, difficulties, and conflicts that arise for members of the campus community. Whether it's a difficulty between a student and faculty member, problem with a roommate or group project member, workplace concern, or other issue, the Ombuds Program is here to help people work through the situation in a skilled and constructive way. An Ombuds can assist in identifying the issues at play and analyzing the situation, as well as help to identify and evaluate options for effectively addressing it.
The program provides facilitation and informal mediation, as well as coaching on effective communication and conflict resolution skills. Ombuds can help to clarify University policies and procedures, and refer visitors to other resources and services that may be helpful in their situation. The program offers training, workshops, and presentations on effective communication and conflict management skills and can help to prevent negative conflict through early intervention. It also helps to create positive change by reporting issues and trends to management, in a way that protects the confidentiality and anonymity of the visitors.
To make an appointment please contact the program director at 520-626-5589. For further information about the program please visit http://ombuds.arizona.edu/.
