Dear Colleagues,


This year is an exciting time for student involvement on campus. The Office of Student Engagement is partnering with the student-led InnovateUA for their first initiative of the year - Pitchfest. Pitchfest is a contest to find the most innovative student ideas for a better campus, a better Tucson, or even a better world. Open to both undergraduates and grad students, Pitchfest promises to be an inclusive and inspiring event.


Starting on September 25th, students can participate in the contest by uploading a video pitch of their big idea in one of 11 categories, including topics like Health, Environment, and Education. Students explain their idea in three minutes or less, and submit their video on pitchfest.arizona.edu<http://pitchfest.arizona.edu>. The winning ideas in each of the 11 categories will receive a monetary prize of up to $1000.


In addition to competing as individuals, Pitchfest also includes a friendly competition between the colleges at the University of Arizona. The winning college will be the one with the most student pitches across all categories (relative to college size)! We believe that the Pitchfest innovation challenge is the kind of event in which students in your college can shine.



To encourage students to participate, we are looking for an exemplary student to represent your college. I would like to invite you to nominate a student to join the Pitchfest Talent Team and lead the your college to the forefront of Pitchfest participation!



To nominate a student, send the student's name and email address to Laura Kurtzberg, the Director of Pitchfest, at laurak2 at email.arizona.edu<mailto:laurak2 at email.arizona.edu>. Laura will then contact the student and invite them to join the Talent Team. Nominations are ideally due on Friday, September 25th, and the nominees will attend the first Talent Team meeting on Monday, September 28th at 11am.
