Carson Scholar Program – UA Only
The Carson Scholars Program cultivates and advances interdisciplinary environmental scholarship at the University of Arizona. The program is designed to build a network of graduate students and faculty devoted to furthering knowledge and awareness of Earth’s natural environment and its interactions with people. The program also encourages individual initiative, innovation, and communication. Carson Scholars, through their emphasis on excellence in interdisciplinary environmental scholarship, problem-solving, and communicating science to a broad audience, will become leaders in the advancement of collaborative solutions to environmental challenges among the public, private, NGO, and academic sectors. The Carson Scholars Program offers one-year, one-time-only, $5,000 graduate scholarships. The scholarships are designed to support and retain University of Arizona PhD students whose research is related to the environment, social justice and renewable energy and who are interested in communicating science to a broad audience.

Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program
The Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program provides early career individuals with the opportunity to spend 12 weeks at the National Academies in Washington, DC learning about science and technology policy and the role that scientists and engineers play in advising the nation. An immersive experience, the program is designed to broaden fellows’ appreciation of employment opportunities outside academia and leave them with both a firm grasp of the important and dynamic role of science and technology in decision-making and a better understanding of the role that they can play in strengthening the science and technology enterprise for the betterment of mankind. The stipend for the 12 week session will be $8500. Open to most fields including social science, business, and law.

Harvard University Society of Fellows
The purpose of the Society is to give men and women at an early stage of their scholarly careers an opportunity to pursue their studies in any department of the University, free from formal requirements. They must be persons of exceptional ability, originality, and resourcefulness, and should be of the highest caliber of intellectual achievement, comparable to successful candidates for junior faculty positions at leading universities. These Junior Fellows are selected by the Senior Fellows, who with the President of the University and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, ex officio, administer the Society. NSF Science of Science and Innovation Policy Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants (SciSIP-DDRIG)
The Science of Science & Innovation Policy (SciSIP) program supports research designed to advance the scientific basis of science and innovation policy. The program funds research to develop models, analytical tools, data and metrics that can be applied in the science policy decision making process and concern the use and allocation of scarce scientific resources. For example, research proposals may develop behavioral and analytical conceptualizations, frameworks or models that have applications across the broad array of science and innovation policy challenges. Proposals may also develop methodologies to analyze science, technology and innovation data, and to usefully convey that information to a variety of audiences. Proposals that create and improve science, engineering and innovation data, including the design of new metrics and indicators, particularly proposals that demonstrate the viability of collecting and analyzing data on knowledge generation and innovation in organizations, are encouraged.

Ohio State University College of Medicine Postdoctoral Recruitment Event
This event, held September 30 – October 2, will provide an excellent opportunity for outstanding PhD students from leading graduate programs to meet our research faculty, interview for open postdoctoral positions, and discover the exciting and innovative research taking place at The Ohio State University and the Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Selected candidates will be invited to visit the Ohio State campus, network with current OSU and NCH postdocs, present their research to faculty in a podium presentation, interview with prospective mentors, and learn more about postdoctoral opportunities at Ohio State and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Partnership for Public Service – Public Service Fellows
The Partnership for Public Service’s Fellowship Program provides paid internships at the organization’s offices in Washington, D.C. in specialized assignments that support its mission, including accounting, communications, development, education and outreach, and research. Undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates from any academic background are eligible to apply. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to public service, analytical thinking, strong written and oral communication, and an ability to work well in teams. Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans
Thirty Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans will be awarded on the basis of a single national competition. Each fellowship supports up to two years of graduate study – in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program – in the United States. Each award is for up to $25,000 in maintenance grants and up to $20,000 in tuition support for each year of graduate study supported, a total of as much as $90,000. Applicants must not yet be 31 years old, as of the application deadline and not beyond their second year, if already enrolled, in a graduate degree program.

18th Street Arts Center’s Visiting Artist Residency Program
The program in Santa Monica, CA hosts artists from across the United States and from around the world. There are four live/work artist studios at the center where artists are in residence from 1 to 3 months at a time (sometimes longer). This program hosts artists of all disciplines as well as art curators, writers, and musicians. It includes invited artists as well as artists selected through an application process.

American Educational Research Association Dissertation Grants
With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the AERA Grants Program announces its Dissertation Grants competition. The program seeks to stimulate research on U.S. education issues using data from the large-scale, national and international data sets supported by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), NSF, and other federal agencies, and to increase the number of education researchers using these data sets. The program supports research projects that are quantitative in nature, include the analysis of existing data from NCES, NSF or other federal agencies, and have U.S. education policy relevance. AERA invites education-related dissertation proposals using NCES, NSF, and other federal data bases. Dissertation Grants are available for advanced doctoral students and are intended to support the student while writing the doctoral dissertation. American Psychological Association Dissertation Research Award
The Science Directorate of the American Psychological Association sponsors an annual competition for dissertation research funding. The purpose of the Dissertation Research Award program is to assist science-oriented doctoral students of psychology with research costs. The current program includes 30-40 grants of $1,000 each, along with several larger grants of up to $5,000 to students whose dissertation research reflects excellence in scientific psychology.

Chinati Foundation Artist Residencies
Founded by Donald Judd in 1979, the Chinati Foundation provides resident artists a furnished apartment on the museum's grounds, a private studio in the town of Marfa, and a stipend of $1,000 to pursue their self-directed projects. Resident artists also have unlimited access to the museum’s collection and archive. A museum exhibition of the artist’s work takes place at the end of the residency.

Grammy Foundation- Grants in Music Research and Preservation Projects
Funded by the Recording Academy, the Grammy Foundation's research projects grant program awards funding of up to $20,000 to organizations and individuals working to research the impact of music on the human condition. Examples include the study of the effects of music on mood, cognition, and healing; the medical and occupational well-being of music professionals; and the creative process underlying music. The archiving and preservation projects grant program awards grants to organizations and individuals in support of efforts that advance the archiving and preservation of the music and recorded sound heritage of the Americas. The archiving and preservation area has two funding categories — preservation implementation (grants of up to $20,000) and planning, assessment and/or consultation (grants of up to $5,000).

History and Philosophy of Medicine Fellowships
The fellowships are intended to attract scholars to the Clendening Library and University of Kansas Medical Center Archives who will carry out research in the history of medicine, nursing, allied health and related sciences. The Department will grant fellowships to interested scholars whose research topics are well-suited to the varied collections housed in the library and archives. The Department intends to grant fellowships with the aim of attracting scholars from a wide range of academic levels, including professors, independent researchers, graduate students in the dissertation stage of their degrees, and postgraduate students pursuing advanced scholarship. Ucross Foundation- Spring 2015 Artist Residencies
Founded in 1981, the Ucross Foundation provides uninterrupted time, work space, and living accommodations to competitively selected visual artists, writers, and composers. Nearly thirteen hundred individuals from every state in the U.S. as well as Germany, France, Scotland, England, Poland, Egypt, the Netherlands, Canada, and Thailand have spent time at Ucross since it first opened. Currently, the foundation is accepting applications for its 2016 Spring Residency program, which runs from late-February to mid-June. Residencies vary in length from two weeks to six weeks. At any one time, there are up to nine individuals in residence, representing a mix of visual artists, writers, and composers. In most cases, studios are separate from living quarters. Most meals are provided, and there is cell phone service on the property as well as wireless Internet connection for resident use. Residents are responsible for providing their own working materials and for their travel to Sheridan, Wyoming. There is no charge for a residency. Artists, writers, and composers from the United States and around the globe in any stage of their professional careers are invited to apply.

Demonstration of Energy-Efficient Developments (DEED) Student Research Grants and Internships
DEED student research grants and internships support students studying in energy-related disciplines, increase awareness of career opportunities in public power, and provide assistance to DEED member utility sponsors. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Graduate Fellowships
Two fellowships exist, one general fellowship and one focused on microwave engineering to medical applications. Methane Hydrate Science Research Fellowship
The NRC, in association with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), administers a Research Fellowship Program designed to support the development of Methane Hydrate science and enable highly qualified graduate and postgraduate students to pursue advanced degrees and training in an area of increasing national interest. With respect to the energy production potential of gas hydrates, interest is in projects that will provide improved tools, methods, and information relative to the remote detection, characterization, and appraisal of production potential of Methane Hydrates. With respect to gas hydrates as a part of the global environment, interest is in projects that provide an improved understanding of the processes that control the distribution, occurrence, and stability of gas hydrates in marine and permafrost settings. The 2 or 3-year fellowships are available to support work towards the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, or to support a Postdoctoral appointment. Research during the term of the fellowship can be performed at any federal lab or accredited university in the United States.

NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants in the Biological Sciences
The National Science Foundation awards Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grants in selected areas of the biological sciences. The Burroughs Wellcome Fund-ASTMH Postdoctoral Fellowship in Tropical Infectious Diseases was established in 1999 to support career development of physician/scientists focused on infectious diseases of the developing world. Thanks to a generous grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, these fellowships provide funding for selected individuals to conduct research in tropical infectious diseases (and, on occasion, other clinical conditions unique to tropical medicine). Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education directs a postdoctoral fellowship program that offers supervised research experience in tobacco control with members of the Center faculty.
