American Center of Oriental Research and Council of American Overseas Research Centers Pre-Doctorate Fellowships
The American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) offers two or more fellowships for M.A. and pre-doctoral students conducting research in Jordan. These awards are made possible through CAORC (Council of American Overseas Research Centers) and funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State. Proposed topics may be in any sub-discipline within the natural and social sciences or humanities, and may focus on antiquity, the medieval period, or the modern era.

Confucius China Studies Program (IIE)
The CCSP Fellowships offer generous funding to doctoral students focusing on China. The Research Ph.D. Fellowship, which ranges from six months to two years, provides funding to U.S.-based students who wish to pursue doctoral research in China. The Ph.D. in China Fellowship, which ranges from three to four years, provides funding to students holding master's degrees who wish to pursue their Ph.D. degree in China. For both programs, we welcome applications from a wide range of disciplines and backgrounds in the Arts, Education, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

Congressional Hunger Center Fellowships
CHC is invested in developing a movement of anti-hunger leaders who are creating the political will necessary to end hunger. Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship (Internship)
The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship, established in 1987, is a highly-competitive national fellowship program that provides recent college and grad school graduates with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Twice yearly, the fellowship's Board of Directors selects a group of outstanding individuals to spend six to nine months in Washington. Supported by a salary, the fellows serve as full-time junior staff members at the participating organization of their choice.

Live Your Dream Climbing Grants from American Alpine Club
The American Alpine Club's Live Your Dream grant powered by The North Face, is designed to help you, the every-day adventurer take your abilities to the next level. The purpose of the Live Your Dream grant is to support and promote unforgettable experiences for climbers-specifically, experiences that provide the skills and confidence to realize one's climbing ambitions; to dream big, to grow as a climber, and to inspire others. The grant seeks to fund individuals or small teams of all ages and experience levels, as well as a range of climbing disciplines (including but not limited to: bouldering, sport & trad climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, ski mountaineering, peak running, exploration-you name it). Point Foundation Scholarships
Point Foundation empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential - despite the obstacles often put before them - to make a significant impact on society. By identifying and supporting these scholars, Point hopes to provide a greater level of acceptance and respect within future generations for all persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender expression, or gender identity. Each person who applies for a Point Scholarship is evaluated on the totality of their situation. Academic achievement, personal merit, leadership, involvement in the LGBTQ community, professional experiences, financial need, marginalization, personal and future goals are all taken into consideration. Point Scholarships are awarded on a "last provider" basis. Point fills in the gaps and provides funds not provided by other scholarships, grants, loans, work/study programs, etc.

Thiel Fellowship
The Fellowship brings together some of the world's most creative and motivated young people in their late teens and early twenties, and helps them bring their most ambitious ideas and projects to life. Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center's (SQCC) Summer Arabic Language and Media (SALAM) Fellowship
This fully-funded intensive Arabic language scholarship program in the Sultanate of Oman supports Arabic language study for U.S. students. This intensive Arabic language program will allow students to gain a deeper knowledge of Arabic, while becoming familiar with Omani history and culture.
Program dates: July 7-August 12, 2016
Location: Manah, Oman
SQCC will cover international travel to and from Washington, D.C. and Muscat, Oman, program language classes, room, board, SALAM-sponsored travel for weekend excursions, and all entrance fees for program activities. Students will be required to purchase international health and medical evacuation insurance.

West African Research Association Pre-doctoral Fellowships
The West African Research Center funds pre-doctoral and post-doctoral research. The WARA Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, for 2 to 3 month's research in West Africa during the summer of 2016, is for the purpose of 1) preparing a doctoral research proposal; or 2) carrying out research related to the completion of another terminal degree program (e.g., MFA or MPH). This competition is open to U.S. citizens who are currently enrolled in graduate programs at institutions of higher education in the United States. It is advisable that applicants be conversant in an African language spoken where they will be conducting research. Priority will be given to applicants who are at the pre-dissertation stage, that is, who will be returning to their institution to complete course work and exams, before beginning their fieldwork.

William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India
William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India is a 10 month leadership fellowship that pairs a select number of young professionals with credible NGOs and social enterprises in India in order to accelerate impact and create effective projects that are replicable, scalable, and sustainable. Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 34 and completed an undergraduate degree. AIF provides a round trip ticket to India, insurance coverage, and a monthly stipend to each Fellow. Stipends vary from Rs. 16,000 per month to Rs. 35,000 per month based on location.

Academy of American Franciscan History Dissertation Fellowships
The Academy of American Franciscan History is accepting applications for four dissertation fellowships. As many as two of these fellowships will be awarded for projects dealing with some aspect of the history of the Franciscan Family in Latin America, including the United States Borderlands, Mexico, Central and South America. Up to another two fellowships will be awarded to support projects dealing with some aspect of the history of the Franciscan Family in the rest of the United States and Canada. The bulk of the research should be conducted in the Americas. Projects may deal with any aspect of the history of the Franciscan Family, including any of the branches of the Family, male, female, tertiary, Capuchin, etc.

American Educational Research Association (AERA) Dissertation Grants
With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the AERA Grants Program announces its Dissertation Grants competition. The program seeks to stimulate research on U.S. education issues using data from the large-scale, national and international data sets supported by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), NSF, and other federal agencies, and to increase the number of education researchers using these data sets. The program supports research projects that are quantitative in nature, include the analysis of existing data from NCES, NSF or other federal agencies, and have U.S. education policy relevance.

Chateaubriand Fellowship - Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)
The HSS Chateaubriand is a fellowship program offered by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the US. It targets outstanding PhD students from American universities who seek to engage in research in France in any discipline of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Fellowships range from 4 to 8 months.

Confluence Center Graduate Fellowships (UA only)
Confluencenter Graduate Fellowships are intended to advance innovative interdisciplinary and collaborative research in the arts, humanities and social sciences. The fellowships can support either dissertation research or exploratory work, and creative projects not directly related to applicants' degree requirements. Before preparing a proposal, applicants should explore the
Confluencenter's website and familiarize themselves with the center's interdisciplinary and collaborative mission. They should also read about previously funded projects undertaken by Confluencenter Graduate Fellows. Since these fellowships are limited one-time awards, applicants should propose projects and activities that can be completed in the course of one academic year. Josephine de Karman Fellowship
The Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust was established in 1954 by the late Dr. Theodore von Karman, world renowned aeronautics expert and teacher and first director of the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, in memory of his sister, Josephine, who died in 1951. The purpose of this fellowship program is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect Professor von Karman's high standards. DeKarman fellowships are open to students in any discipline, including international students, who are currently enrolled in a university or college located within the United States. Only candidates for the PhD who will defend their dissertation by June 2017 are eligible and special considerations for candidates in the Humanities.

New York Public Library Short Term Fellowships
The New York Public Library is pleased to offer Short-Term Research Fellowships to support visiting scholars from outside the New York metropolitan area engaged in graduate-level, post-doctoral, and independent research. Fellowship stipends are $1,000 per week for up to four weeks and fellows must be in residence at the Library for a minimum of two weeks between June 1, 2016 - May 31, 2017. Funding Opportunities in Science and Engineering
American Fisheries Society - Steven Berkeley Marine Conservation Fellowship
This fellowship was created by AFS in 2007 to honor the memory of Steven Berkeley, a dedicated fisheries scientist with a passionate interest in integrating the fields of marine ecology, conservation biology, and fisheries science to improve fisheries management. Berkeley was a long-time member of AFS and a member of the first Board of Directors of the Fisheries Conservation Foundation. The fellowship comprises a competitively based $10,000 award to a graduate student actively engaged in thesis research relevant to marine conservation. Research topics may address any aspect of conservation; a focus on fisheries issues is not required.

Chateaubriand Fellowship - Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)

McGinnies Graduate Scholarship for Students in Arid Lands Studies (UA only)
The McGinnies scholarship in Arid Lands Studies was established in 1985 by the faculty of the Office of Arid Lands Studies, University of Arizona, in honor of Dr. William G. McGinnies, our founder. The intent of the McGinnies Graduate Scholarship is to provide additional support to graduate students whose dissertation research concerns physical and biological processes in the world's arid and semiarid lands. The annual scholarship award is $2,500 and is celebrated with a luncheon at the historic Arizona Inn.

Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) Summer Internship Program
The Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute's summer internship program provides an opportunity for talented college students (undergraduate and graduate) and educators to come to MBARI between June 6 - August 12, 2016 to work on a specific project under MBARI staff supervision. With state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that includes research vessels, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) to explore the deep ocean, MBARI's Summer Internship Program offers teachers and students unique opportunities to be involved in advanced research and development projects. The focus of the MBARI internship is on the intern's professional development-learning research techniques and improving communication and collaboration skills. Each intern will have an MBARI mentor who will supervise a specific project. Interns will also serve as peer-mentors to other interns.

Postdoctoral Opportunities
American Religion and Politics Postdoctoral Research Associate
The John C. Danforth Center on Religion and Politics seeks applications from junior scholars and recent Ph.D. graduates for up to three postdoctoral fellowships in residence at Washington University in St. Louis. The appointment is for one year, renewable for a second year. The research associates will spend most of their time pursuing research and writing on their own projects. They will also serve the intellectual life of the Danforth Center through participating in its biweekly interdisciplinary seminar. Their teaching responsibilities will include: 1) developing one course per year to augment the Center's curricular offerings, and 2) possibly assisting in one additional course each year (depending on the particular teaching needs of the Center). Educational Testing Service Postdoctoral Fellowship and Summer Program
Summer Program: Interns in this eight-week program participate in research under the guidance of an ETS mentor in any of these areas: psychometrics; validity; natural language processing and computational linguistics; cognitive and developmental psychology; learning sciences; linguistics; second language learning and teaching English as a foreign language; speech recognition and processing; teaching and classroom research; statistics; educational data mining; international large-scale assessments. Intelligence Community Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
The program was established to fund unclassified, basic research in areas of interest to the Intelligence Community, from behavior and language to energy and atmosphere. The program annually funds several Postdoctoral Fellows representing colleges, universities, and other research institutions throughout the United States. Senior scientists in the Intelligence Community identify critical research topics and Principal Investigators at research institutions work with Postdoctoral Fellows to submit technical proposals that align with Intelligence Community priorities.

Sustainability Distinguished Teaching Post-doctoral Fellowship
Emory University seeks applications for our Sustainability Distinguished Teaching Fellowship, a two-year postdoctoral position beginning in August, 2016. We are looking for a strong scholar of applied behavioral social science with experience in engaged learning. This postdoc offers a supportive teaching and research position for career development at one of the leading institutions of sustainability in higher education. Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine Postdoctoral Fellowship in Genetic Epidemiology
The primary objective of this post-doctoral research training program is to produce cutting edge independent scientists and future research leaders in genetic epidemiology. The program is proposing to do this in a multidisciplinary setting and with emphasis on substantive applied orientation in cardiovascular disease (CVD) and CVD risk factors and other complex traits related to heart, lung, and blood disorders. The program team believes that the research environment at Washington University is outstanding for carrying out research in genetic epidemiology and cardiovascular genetic epidemiology. Background in one or more areas among biostatistics, statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, and bioinformatics is highly desirable. Candidates with research interests in the development of novel analytic methods in genetic epidemiology are particularly encouraged to apply.

Postdoctoral Scholar awards are offered annually to recipients of new or recent doctorates in the fields of chemistry, engineering, geology, geophysics, mathematics, meteorology, physics, and biology as well as oceanography. The competitive awards are designed to further the education and training of the applicant with primary emphasis placed on the individual's research promise.
