Register to be a Reviewer for GPSC Travel Grants!
This is an excellent opportunity if you plan to apply for any funding opportunity. Serving as a Travel Grants Judge is a wonderful experience and allows you the opportunity to get an insider's perspective on evaluating travel grant applications and could improve your chances of receiving a future travel grant award. Also, you will get an insider's perspective on an evaluation process similar to major granting agencies. The evaluation process should take no more than 2-3 hours of your time, including going over the guidelines.

Consortium for Faculty Diversity in Liberal Arts Colleges: Dissertation and Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Consortium now invites applications for dissertation fellowships and post-doctoral fellowships from those who will contribute to increasing the diversity of member colleges by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, maximizing the educational benefits of diversity and/or increasing the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of students.

Harvard University Society of Fellows
The purpose of the Society is to give men and women at an early stage of their scholarly careers an opportunity to pursue their studies in any department of the University, free from formal requirements. They must be persons of exceptional ability, originality, and resourcefulness, and should be of the highest caliber of intellectual achievement, comparable to successful candidates for junior faculty positions at leading universities. These Junior Fellows are selected by the Senior Fellows, who with the President of the University and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, ex officio, administer the Society. Junior Fellows are required to be in residence in Cambridge or neighboring communities during the academic year and to attend the weekly lunches and dinners. Junior Fellows are not subject to examination, are not required to make reports, receive no credit for courses, and may not be candidates for any degree other than the Ph.D. Candidates are nominated for Junior Fellowships, generally by those under whom they have studied. Applications are not accepted from candidates themselves.

Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (and Humanities) Pre/Post Doctoral Fellowships
The purpose of the program is to provide opportunities to young and excellent pre-/post-doctoral researchers from the US, Canada and Europe to conduct, under the guidance of their hosts, cooperative research with leading research groups in universities and other Japanese institutions. In so doing, the program is designed to help advance the research of the visiting fellows, while augmenting opportunities for young researchers to come to Japan from the US, Canada and Europe.
Applications for this program are submitted by a host researcher in Japan who wishes to host a foreign postdoctoral fellow. All fields of the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences are included under this program. Doctoral students can apply under the short-term postdoctoral program.

Partnership for Public Service – Public Service Fellows
The Partnership for Public Service’s Fellowship Program provides paid internships at the organization’s offices in Washington, D.C. in specialized assignments that support its mission, including accounting, communications, development, education and outreach, and research.  Undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates from any academic background are eligible to apply.  Candidates should possess a strong commitment to public service, analytical thinking, strong written and oral communication, and an ability to work well in teams.  Full-time fellows with an undergraduate or graduate degree are paid $1,000 per month.

Research Fellowships at Gonville and Caius College
Research Fellowships are awarded to men or women judged to be the most able with an exceptionally strong academic record who have demonstrated outstanding capacity to conduct original and innovative doctoral research in science or the humanities. EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program)
EMGIP (Émigré Memorial German Internship Program) offers internship opportunities for US and Canadian students in the German parliament, the Bundestag. The internships are two months long in positions matching the student’s interest and experience. Interns will be placed within the Verwaltung, preferably with a Sekretariat working for their preferred Ausschuss. In addition to contributing to the respective offices, interns have the opportunity to study legislative and administrative procedures in the German parliament.

NSF Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant – Political Science (see NSF website for DDIGs under other directorates)
The program supports scientific research that advances knowledge and understanding of citizenship, government, and politics. Research proposals are expected to be theoretically motivated, conceptually precise, methodologically rigorous, and empirically oriented. Substantive areas include, but are not limited to, American government and politics, comparative government and politics, international relations, political behavior, political economy, and political institutions. In recent years, program awards have supported research projects on bargaining processes; campaigns and elections, electoral choice, and electoral systems; citizen support in emerging and established democracies; democratization, political change, and regime transitions; domestic and international conflict; international political economy; party activism; and political psychology and political tolerance. The program also has supported research experiences for undergraduate students and infrastructural activities, including methodological innovations, in the discipline.

Olympic Studies Center Fellowships
The OSC organizes an annual grant program intended for individuals engaged in scholarly research on the Olympic Movement, its history and ideals, and the impact of the Olympic Games on the various aspects of contemporary society and culture. The intention of this program me is to support thesis research. Applicants should be preparing a PhD thesis in one or more of the disciplines within the human and social sciences (e.g., anthropology; arts; communications; economics/management; history; law; linguistics; pedagogy; philosophy; political sciences; sociology; sport sciences and urban, cultural, religious or literature studies) and have Olympism, Olympic sports or the Olympic Games as one of the research topics.

Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR) Fellowships (Singapore)

Methane Hydrate Science Research Fellowship
The NRC, in association with the U.S. Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), administers a Research Fellowship Program designed to support the development of Methane Hydrate science and enable highly qualified graduate and postgraduate students to pursue advanced degrees and training in an area of increasing national interest. With respect to the energy production potential of gas hydrates, interest is in projects that will provide improved tools, methods, and information relative to the remote detection, characterization, and appraisal of production potential of Methane Hydrates. With respect to gas hydrates as a part of the global environment, interest is in projects that provide an improved understanding of the processes that control the distribution, occurrence, and stability of gas hydrates in marine and permafrost settings. The 2 or 3-year fellowships are available to support work towards the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, or to support a Postdoctoral appointment.  Research during the term of the fellowship can be performed at any federal lab or accredited university in the United States.

Microwave Engineering Fellowship/Microwave Engineering for Medical Applications Fellowship
The purpose of fellowship is to recognize and provide financial assistance to graduate students who show promise and interest in pursuing a graduate degree in applying microwave engineering to medical applications. The student must be actively pursuing a graduate degree in electrical engineering, applied physics, biomedical engineering or other appropriate field on a full-time basis at an accredited institution of higher learning. It is expected that the student will be engaged in studies and research or thesis related activities for at least 12 months following the award. Research work must clearly involve the application of RF and microwave techniques to medical problems, supervised by a full-time faculty supervisor.

Welder Wildlife Foundation Graduate Fellowships
The graduate research fellowship program is designed to promote the education of exceptionally qualified students and provide research information to manage wildlife populations. Studies are limited to the continental United States. The Foundation will entertain research proposals in the following areas of study: animal behavior, biology, botany, conservation education, ecology, genetics, mammalogy, ornithology, parasitology, range science, veterinary pathology, and wildlife and fisheries sciences.

Postdoctoral Opportunities

Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) Postdoctoral Fellowships
HFSP postdoctoral fellowships encourage early career scientists to broaden their research skills by moving into new areas for study while working in a new country. HFSP fellowships are for three years. Fellows may choose to stay for up to three years in the host country or use the last year of their fellowship to return to their home country or to move to another HFSPO member country. Long-Term Fellowships (LTF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. in a biological discipline, who will broaden their expertise by proposing a project in the life sciences which is significantly different from their previous Ph.D. or postdoctoral work. Cross-Disciplinary Fellowships (CDF) are for applicants with a Ph.D. from outside the life sciences (e.g. in physics, chemistry, mathematics, engineering or computer sciences), who have had limited exposure to biology during their previous training.

Institute of Current World Affairs Fellowships
The Institute of Current World Affairs (ICWA) Fellowships nurture deep expertise in foreign cultures by supporting fellows engaged in self-designed independent study abroad for at least two years.  A proposed fellowship must hold the promise of enriching public life in the US by enhancing understanding of foreign countries, cultures, and trends.  ICWA provides “full financial support” for its fellows during the course of the fellowship experience.  Eligible candidates must be under 36 years of age, have completed at least a bachelor’s degree, and possess the necessary language skills to carry out their projects overseas.  Special consideration for fellows in Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East and for fellows with graduate degrees in forestry or forest-related specialties.

Fulbright Scholar Program
The Fulbright Scholar Program offers teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries. Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education directs a postdoctoral fellowship program that offers supervised research experience in tobacco control with members of the Center faculty. Each trainee meets regularly with a faculty mentor regarding research progress and career or professional issues. We offer diverse educational and research opportunities, including postdoctoral fellowships, graduate research positions, advocacy training, and individualized documents training. Our work spans policy and historical research, economics, and science.
