Dear colleagues,

We are recruiting a graduate student to serve as the T.A. for the ASEMS program this academic year, which stands for Arizona's Science, Engineering, and Math Scholars program. The goal of the program is to increase the number of undergraduate students obtaining degrees in STEM fields from underserved groups including first generation college students, students from low socioeconomic households, and students from underrepresented minority groups (URMs). The T.A. would assist with teaching and grading for the ASEMS SCI 295B course in the fall and mostly likely the ASEMS SCI195B course in the spring. The courses are targeted to freshmen, sophomores, and new transfer students. The T.A. would also assist with training preceptors to assist in the class and may be asked to follow up with upper division ASEMS students. We are especially looking for a student who has a STEM background either as an undergraduate or as a graduate student, who has experience teaching or serving as a T.A., and someone who is very interested in STEM retention. We need someone who is a self-starter, takes initiative, is a hard-worker, and is focused on ensuring the success of the students. The T.A. will be hired through the College of Science for 20 hours a week.

If you have a student to recommend, please let me know. Thank you so much!

Sincerely,
Kimberly Sierra-Cajas
