Dear colleagues,
I am looking for a grad student to hire ASAP to assist with the ASEMS program, which stands for Arizona's Science, Engineering, and Math Scholars. The grad student would be the TA for ASEMS' one-unit spring course, SCI 195B, at .5 FTE. Ideally, we are looking for someone studying STEM education, a STEM field, or anything that might be slightly related. I've even had a TA who was studying Public Administration and was excellent. If you could refer me to any students or other helpful contacts around campus, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have a student to suggest, I can email the student directly about the opportunity. Also, our past TA is volunteering to train the new TA.
The ASEMS Program seeks to increase the retention of students majoring in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at the University of Arizona (UA) focusing on students in their first and second years at UA who are primarily underrepresented students, students from low-income households, or first in their family to attend college. The program includes a staff, faculty, and peer mentoring component, transition courses that teach skills to succeed in STEM and introduce students to research, and a lab shadowing experience.
Sincerely,
Kimberly Sierra-Cajas
