Dear graduate students,

Happy new year! I hope that my letter finds everyone well and looking
forward to an excellent semester.

I'm writing to welcome two new students: Karla Garcia and Pummi Singh.
We'll introduce our new arrivals early in the term. Georgina will be
contacting a few of you with a request that you please consider serving as
a graduate student peer-mentor; thank you in advance for your help!

Also, I wanted to clarify one point: Georgina kindly advertised my
one-credit 'Topics in Fungal Ecology and Evolution' course as a journal
club. However, it is going to take a slightly different direction than a
journal club per se this term. Enrollment is open to interested students --
feel free to contact me for more information -- but it will not qualify as
a 'replacement' for the Journal Club requirement.   Please let me know if
you have any questions.

I look forward to seeing everyone at the first seminar of the term, and at
School activities throughout the semester. I'll schedule a lunch with you
as a group once the semester is up and running, and look forward to being
in closer contact now that I'm back from sabbatical.
