Dear SPLS faculty,

CALS (Jim Hunt) has opened the next call for instructors interested in working with an Instructional Designer* on one or more of their
online courses/course sections. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in working with an Instructional Designer so that we can internally prioritize our requests in SPLS – the current call is for instructors interested in doing the work this
Spring or Summer for a Summer 2023 or Fall 2023 course, but let me know if you have an interest in working with an Instructional Designer for a later course offering, too.

*Instructional Designers are experts both in the best educational practices and in digital course site design (for our D2L Brightspace platform) and can help you prepare a high-quality asynchronous online course, whether it is for main
campus/iCourse, or the Arizona Online or Arizona International campuses. They can help you design effective assignments/assessments and improve the ‘user experience’ (accessibility/inclusion and general ease-of-use) of your course site. They can help with
new courses (after you have gone through the course proposal/approval steps – contact me for more information about how to do that, if you’re interested) and with existing courses that you want to revamp or improve or move to an online format. Expect to work
with the designer – it will take quite a bit of your time, but they can probably also save you effort in the long run by guiding you through course (re)design for a high-quality final product.
