<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;text-autospace:none"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">McKay received his Ph.D. in 2001 at the University of Montana with Tom Mitchell-Olds in ecological genetics and is currently an Associate Professor at Colorado
State University. He studies genome x environment interactions and functional trait genetics, especially plant responses to drought. He has 15 first/senior papers (out of 65 total papers), including three in PNAS, Proceedings of Royal Society, Nature Biotechnology.
