School has had many discussions with CALS and Libby about how her position
might change as she moves toward retirement. In the end, it was decided by CALS
that we would recruit someone who is 25% Extension (Arboretum Director) and 75%
Instruction. The Search Committee (Dennis Ray, Ursula Schuch, Barry Pryor,
Chieri Kubota and myself as chair) has selected 4 excellent candidates to
interview. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

first is Dr. Amy McFarland who will be interviewing this Friday. She will give
a talk at 11:00 am in 307 Forbes.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Calibri><span style='font-size:11.0pt'>We
will then skip a week and our last 3 candidates will be in to interview on 24,
26 and 28 May. Two of the candidates are PhDs from TAMU and Purdue and two are
MS from Cornell and Tucson. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

will be hosting a one hour slot for faculty to interview each candidate. Amy
McFarland’s one hour slot is scheduled for 3:30-4:30 in 307 Forbes on
Friday. I would very much appreciate any input that you might be able to give
the committee. The candidates are here for just one day and we will be making a
decision soon after the last candidate has interviewed. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

are looking at a number of existing courses that the new faculty member might

successful candidate will also be responsible for student advising and, most
