Excellence Awards 2009 - 2010 <br>

We are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2009-2010 Peter<br>
W. Likins Inclusive Excellence Awards*. This annual award was established to<br>
recognize individuals or groups who, through their inclusive programs or<br>
leadership, enhance the UA's academic distinction. <br>
<br>
Award nominees (individuals, teams or organizations) must demonstrate a<br>
significant contribution toward creating a diverse and inclusive community<br>
through one or more of the following: <br>
<br>
- Recruitment and retention of an excellent and diverse faculty, staff, or<br>
student body <br>
- Fostering equality of opportunity within our campus community <br>
- Encouraging diverse perspectives on our campus <br>
- Creating a welcoming and supportive campus climate through efforts such as<br>
visibility, <br>
communication, and education <br>
- Other areas critical to establishing inclusive excellence at The<br>
University of Arizona <br>

President Robert N. Shelton will present awards to the recipients during a<br>

* Former UA President Peter Likins was one of the major architects of<br>
creating a UA community that recognizes diversity as a crucial measure of<br>
quality for research, teaching, and for the formation of a premier<br>
learning/working environment. In recognition of the profound impact of his<br>
leadership, the 2005 inaugural Inclusive Excellence Award (IEA) was not only<br>
presented to President Likins, but was also named after him in tribute.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
