[Plsfaculty] SPLS staff changes and next steps

Dear colleagues,

With this note, I am writing to share news of two changes to our SPLS staff team.

• Our Accountant I, Lizette Montes, has given notice of her resignation and will be moving on to a new position at the U of A. Her last day with us will be this Friday, 6 September. We wish her the very best in her new endeavors and thank her for her work with SPLS. Please know that in collaboration with Jen and Kevin, I am in close contact with CALES leadership for prompt and essential fulfilment of our urgent and multifaceted accounting needs. I hope to have updates by Friday on our next steps.

• Our Graduate Coordinator and Student Support Coordinator, Keenia Shinagawa, has resigned. We wish Keenia a bright and happy future ahead, and we thank her for her work with us. At this time, I am working closely with other units and leaders in CALES to ensure that Keenia's duties are fulfilled, and that our students, staff, and faculty have much-needed support, especially at this important time at the start of the semester. I will share a note with our graduate students shortly, providing them with contact information for their needs with regard to enrollment, GradPath, and related. For progress/procedural questions about aspects specific to our graduate program, please contact Mark and me during this brief interim period.

To all, thank you for being understanding as we transition to a new team in so many aspects of our unit administration – and special thanks to Jen, Kevin, and our advisor, Daniel Jiménez Flores, for a true spirit of teamwork and professionalism as we look ahead. Please stay tuned for updates.
