Dear colleagues,

Normally we have ample communication about room and course scheduling in early May in order to align our courses for the following spring semester. I've come to understand that this communication with instructors did not occur this year, or did so in an incomplete way. As we come into registration season we need to be sure our courses are scheduled for this coming spring.

If you're planning to teach in spring 2025, please check your UAccess Instructor portal and confirm that your spring 2025 courses are listed correctly (https://uaccess.arizona.edu). If there are any discrepancies, including courses appearing there, but which you are not going to teach; courses not appearing there, but which you do plan to teach; or any other issues, please send a note to this mailing list at your earliest opportunity:

jimenez at arizona.edu, danielleb at arizona.edu, orchard at arizona.edu, mbeilstein at arizona.edu, rpalaniv at arizona.edu, arnold at ag.arizona.edu

This list will reach Daniel Jimenez Flores (Academic Advisor II), Daniell Buhrow (assisting us with room and course scheduling and graduate matters), Mark Beilstein (Director of Graduate Studies), Samantha Orchard (provisioned for certain room / course scheduling actions), Ravi Palanivelu (Chair, PLS Curriculum Committee), and me. We will reach out to our Sustainable Plant Systems and Microbiology leadership groups if needed, and Samantha has coverage of Applied Biotechnology.

Thank you all for helping us bridge the staffing shortfalls we have had in previous months, and to lay out the clear paths of responsibility, permissions, and timelines needed to get to 'well oiled machine' status, which is my goal. Until then, thanks are due to everyone for weathering unusual requests and helping move things forward. I especially thank those investing their time to help SPLS deliver our instructional mission and support our students' educational journeys: doing so is valuable and important, full stop, and in this unusual year, it's key as we position ourselves to be a strong unit when incentive-based budgeting returns.

Warm regards,
Betsy
