Good morning,

The Vice Provost’s office has put a lot of effort into developing a MENTOR Institute – which is now up and going and, from what I gather, is very popular. Some of your faculty may be involved in this.

Below is a new opportunity to have your unit certified by the MENTOR Institute. Such certification could actually be a marketing tool in attracting new faculty and students.

We are pleased to let you know about a new opportunity to have your unit certified by the MENTOR Institute to demonstrate your unit’s commitment to best practices in mentoring.

The MENTOR Institute Certified Unit is a certification given to a department, school, division, or unit within the university in which any combination of 75% of the full-time faculty and graduate students who comprise the unit have completed both the Level 1 Online Training<https://arizona.sabacloud.com/Saba/Web_spf/NA7P1PRD161/app/me/ledetail;spf-url=common%2Flearningeventdetail%2Fcurra000000000003461%3Freferrer%3Dtrue%3Freferrer%3Dtrue> and Level 2 Synchronous training<https://arizona.sabacloud.com/Saba/Web_spf/NA7P1PRD161/app/me/learningeventdetail/cours000000000017958;spf-url=common%2Fledetail%2Fcours000000000017958>, developed by the University of Arizona MENTOR Institute<https://facultyaffairs.arizona.edu/mentor-institute>.  

 The deadline to apply for the 2024-2026 designation is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, in Cultivate<https://arizona.infoready4.com/%22%20/l%20%22applicationGrid/1928597>. 

Mentors are a vital part of the University of Arizona’s mission of educating and providing professional development for our students. The MENTOR Institute Unit Certification demonstrates that faculty and/or graduate students have learned best practices for establishing intentional mentoring partnerships and communities and are committed to demonstrate them to the best of their ability. The intent of this certification is to serve as a recruitment tool for faculty and graduate students and to honor units within the university who are dedicated to nurturing future scholars and fellow colleagues in inclusive, equitable, innovative, and holistically supportive ways to raise the standards of mentorship across the institution.
