Hi all:

I have been invited to represent SPLS by attending the "meet and greet" dinner of the annual weekend retreat of the CALS Alumni Council Board of Directors. This will be held on Friday, July 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Aunt Chilada's Restaurant in Tempe. There will be approximately 35 in attendance for the dinner including Shane Burgess and CALS Development staff.

The development team wants to offer me the opportunity to briefly share highlights of our unit:

  * What you've been up to the past few months
  * Plans for the coming year
  * Anything else you think might be of interest to the council.

They also wanted to make sure I'd be open to a brief Q & A session with the group. They are aiming for something that "is a bit more informal, not requiring formal remarks or a script".

I will try to find out more information, for example how long the presentation should be! I think only three HODs are attending, so this gives us an opportunity for shameless advertising of our skills, activities and achievements!

What I'd like to request from you are some bullet points addressing the three items above. Please make these exciting and topical! I am open to all suggestions, but perhaps centering around drought resilience would make most sense.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

David
