[Plsfaculty] Exception Letter to Dean Burgess

Dear colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who responded to our SPLS Leadership poll. We received 17 responses. All 17 respondents responded yes to this question:

We have the opportunity to ask Dean Burgess for an exception so that we can continue our search for a permanent director. Should we submit such an exception request?

Because additional faculty who attended our ‘faculty conversations’ also expressed support for an exception request, we feel this is the majority view of the faculty. Therefore, we have prepared a short request for an exception. It is purposefully brief and does not provide alternative ways forward because a large majority of poll respondents indicated ‘no’ in response to a question about offering alternatives.

Please see the exception request here. We plan to submit this to Dean Burgess today at 4pm.

We know that President Robbins is meeting with ABOR today. We are proceeding at this time because the majority of poll respondents indicated ‘yes’ to a question inquiring whether we should reach out to Dean Burgess even before any news from the ABOR meeting is known.
