[Plsfaculty] UA financial woes

Attached is a set of recommendations to Pres. Robbins and discussed in detail this afternoon during a meeting with him and his SLT. Robbins has "mentioned" the possibility of an across-the-board (or average) cut of up to 5% for all units in addition to a hiring freeze as a means of reducing the current deficit estimated at $40-50 mil (this FY alone). As outlined in the recommendation draft, GFFRC is instead advocating for a set of targeted cuts focused mostly on periphery and not the core mission areas of the university. SLT is currently CONSIDERING this proposal as an alternative. More info will be forthcoming.
