Subject: Molecular Plant Breeding - OER textbook newly available
Dr. Galbraith - Please share the following announcement with your faculty.
Recently published by The Iowa State University Digital Press Molecular Plant Breeding (see details below) is freely available as an open education resource (OER) e-textbook. This was brought to my attention by Cheryl (Cuillier) Casey<https://lib.arizona.edu/people/cheryl-cuillier-casey>, the UA Libraries’ Open Education librarian.
As noted on Cheryl’s OER guide<https://lib.arizona.edu/instructors/free-course-content/oer>, “Open educational resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research resources in the public domain or released with an open license (e.g., Creative Commons license<https://creativecommons.org/licenses/>). Anyone can freely use, copy, adapt, and reshare OER.”

Description: Originally developed as part of a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Crop Genetics is the second in a series of books originally published under the title "Plant Breeding E-learning in Africa." The book, adapted and updated for a broader audience, focuses on genomics and plant biotechnology approaches used in plant breeding, the analysis of genomic data, and their application in quality control measures.
