Good morning SPS Faculty,

It is that time of year again to award the Outstanding Senior Award for Sustainable Plant Systems (explanation forwarded below). I have provided the list of Fall graduating seniors within the SPS major with their GPAs.

If you have worked closely with any of these students and would like to nominate them please send me their name and a brief description of activities/accomplishments inside the academy (e.g., research, internships) and outside the academy (e.g., community work) by Friday, September 25th. Our programs committee will review all nominations and select the finalist to submit to the college. That finalist will work with myself and their nominator to complete the official nomination packet and be eligible for the College Outstanding Senior award.

SUBJECT:      Call for nominations for Fall 2020 Outstanding Senior

The Office of Career & Academic Services will recognize the outstanding graduating seniors selected by each academic major for the Fall 2020 graduating class.  Please note that we have changed this process.  Instead of each department/school being allowed to nominate one senior, each department/school may nominate one senior per MAJOR.  Each senior selected by the College's schools and departments will receive a plaque from the Darrel S. and Lucille Metcalfe Agricultural Endowment.  There will be no recognition luncheon due to COVID-19, recognition plaques will be mailed out to students.

The selection of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Outstanding Senior will be made by a College Committee.  Selection of the outstanding graduating senior should be based on academic achievement and membership in student, college, university, and community organizations, as well as other noteworthy extracurricular affiliations.

Each department or school may submit only one nominee for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Outstanding Senior Award. Please one Nomination letter from Faculty or Staff per student.

All submissions must follow the format, including the categories and sub-categories, as outlined or the nominee will not be eligible for review.  Updates have been made to the outline, so please follow the instructions.

Nominations are due October 7, 2020 before 12:00 p.m.
