Hello,

-For all those planning on hiring a staff member in the next couple months please READ this information about the ending of UA Careers and the beginning of Talent-

UArizona Human Resources has accepted a new contract for a job posting sight to replace UA Careers. This Applicant Tracking System (ATS<http://ats.arizona.edu/home>) will be called Talent and will become active on January 27th to coincide with UCAP.

What this means to you:

  1. If you currently have a posting: you will need to choose someone to hire by January 20th . UA Careers will not be open for new applications after this date.
  2. If you plan on hiring someone starting by January 27th: You are good to follow normal procedures*, we will still use UA Careers, but you will need to have a decision by January 17th (to give time to hire by Jan. 27th)
  3. If you plan on hiring someone starting January 28th or later: You can send me a job description, however the position will not be posted until after January 27th when the new Talent system is active. Soonest start date in this instance will be February 24th

Few FAQ’s:

  * What if I open a posting now, but do not find any qualified candidates by the January 20th deadline? The posting will be closed in UA Careers and reopened in the new Talent system. There may be a delay in opening the posting in Talent, as HR will be busy during that time. If we transfer to Talent but you decide on an applicant who applied in UA Careers, that is fine. We will have access to all applicant information in UA Careers until February 21st.
     * Special arrangements are in place for Postdoc and Faculty postings only. If this applies to you, I will reach out to you before the transition.
  * What if I need someone hired before February 24th? Please make sure you are posting the position early enough to meet the January 20th choice deadline to ensure the candidate may start in the month of February.
  * How will the new Talent<http://ats.arizona.edu/faqs> System differ from UA Careers? Few ways:
     * Offer Letters will now be generated through the applicant system and not by paper (more to come on procedures)
     * All Staff postings will solely coincide with UCAP titles and wages
     * Emails are sent through the tracking system. Upside: convenient, Downside: email will not be our personal email nor say Plant Sciences, will be from Talent, so may look like junk
     * I am sure there is more, will update you as I learn😊
  * What type of Hires does this affect? This is for all Staff**, Postdoc and Faculty. This does not include GA or Undergrad hires.

* Give Erin completed job description, approx. 3 days for HR to post to UA Careers, open 7 days before we can start the hiring process, prefer start date to be the beginning of a pay period (to avoid timesheet issues)
**Staff as in current Appointed or Classified staff, those moving to University Staff

Amanda and I will be going through several trainings and meetings in the next couple of months to learn the new Talent system. Please do not hesitate to ask questions, though it may take us a little bit to find the right answer😊.

Thank you for your patience during this additional transition!

Erin
