[Plsfaculty] CALS Faculty Council Election

Greetings Everyone,

As stated in the attached memo:

"The CALS Faculty Council represents the CALS faculty in the shared governance of CALS.  The Faculty Council addresses matters of concern to CALS and the University ..., and provides advice or recommendations to the Faculty and the Dean on proposed actions."  In the spirit of shared governance: (1) the Faculty Council is asking that representatives from each unit be elected, and (2) Karen has asked me to run this election for Plant Sciences (we are allowed two representatives).

When first instituted, members of the Faculty Council were elected Faculty Senators with CALS appointments, and the chairs of each units' P, T&C Committees. Thus, Judy Brown has been our representative, and she has represented us well.

The election will be a two-step process: (1) nominations (either self-nominations or nominations by peers), and (2) after I confirm that nominees are willing to serve, an election, all via email.  I need the nominations by this Friday, April 25, and the final election will be early next week.  The two nominees with the highest vote totals will be our representatives (this is a two-year term).

Please email me directly (dtray at email.arizona.edu<mailto:dtray at email.arizona.edu>) with nominations so that we are not inundated as a group with reply emails.
