[Plsfaculty] Graduate applicants

Dear colleagues,

I am writing to ask for your perspectives on six strong applicants to our
graduate program in SPLS (all have been judged 'acceptable or better' by
our GSPC).

Specifically, I need to ask: *leaving aside* the question of funding for
the moment, would you be interested in interviewing (by phone) and
considering for your lab any of the following students:

Bishop - PLS MS
Lewis - PLS MS
Rawsthorne - PLP MS
Schwoyer - PLS PhD
Sun - PLS PhD
Whalen - PLS MS

*****Due to a lack of School funds I need a faculty member to specifically
speak up for an applicant in order for that applicant to be considered
seriously for admission. I will work with you on a funding plan for highly
competitive applicants who have a clear home with you as faculty mentor.*

Applications for each can be found under 'domestic applicants' for fall
2013 (see link and password below). None of these students has external
funding, but all look promising.

Please take a look and let me know by Friday at noon if you are interested
in one ore more of the students listed above.
