Subject: Fwd: COE-Sandia National Laboratories Symposium on February 21

CALS HODS,
The UA Coll of Engineering is hosting a mtg with researchers from Sandia Nat
Labs on Feb 21st at the University Marriott with the goal of discussing
Anticipatory R&D Investments for Energy-Water-Climate Change in Arid
Regions. The topics of discussion are very much in line with CALS
activities and include: climate change risks to arid regions, monitoring and
management.

Dean Burgess has asked me to coordinate the CALS participation in this
event. Could you send the attached announcement to your faculty who might
have interest in this area and ask them to let me know if they plan to
participate? This look like a good opportunity to connect with Sandia and
may lead to new funding streams.

Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Mark

Dear College of Engineering Faculty Members and Researchers:

On February 21, 2012 we will host the first in a series of symposia and
workshops with researchers at Sandia National Laboratories. This symposium
will address "Anticipatory R&D Investments for Energy-Water-Climate Change
in Arid Regions" and will be held at the University Marriott Hotel. The
attachment provides further information about the workshop which will
feature talks by UA faculty and Sandia research staff members. In addition
working sessions will be conducted on various topics so that an "action
plan" results for development of a research network and for formulating
specific research proposals. There will opportunities for teams that are
formed during this meeting to continue to work together as we pursue our
collaborative interactions with Sandia and other organizations on this
topic.

We hope that you will set aside time during this day to participate in the
symposium. Further information will appear on the COE "Research and
Innovation" web site http://www.engr.arizona.edu/research/

Registration is required to participate in this event, but there is no
registration fee for College of Engineering faculty members/researchers or
for invited participants.

Please feel free to contact me or Brian Tokarski
[btokarsk at email.arizona.edu] if you have additional questions.

Sincerely,

Glenn
