Subject: Upcoming promotion workshops for candidates, mentors, and reviewers
Please forward this email to your department listserve and to candidates
whom you know will be coming up for promotion in the fall.
The annual presentation on promotion, continuing status, and tenure is on
Monday, April 16th from 3 to 5:00 in the Rincon Room in the Student Union.
General suggestions on the process and specific advice on the dossier will
be provided by faculty serving on the University P&T and University
Continuing Status committees.
The Writing an Effective Candidate Statement workshop will be held on
Tuesday, April 24th from 3:30 to 5:00 in ILC 140. This hands-on workshop
on the Candidate Statement was attended by sixty candidates and faculty
mentors last year. Again this year, we will circulate a range of Candidate
Statements (with permission from the candidates who wrote them). Candidates
need to RSVP for this workshop so that we can match them up with mentors,
and we also need faculty who have experience reviewing dossiers to serve as
table leaders. Please RSVP to Julia Balestracci, Administrative Assistant,
UA ADVANCE at jbalestracci at vpr.arizona.edu or 626-6697
The Going up for Full panel discussion will be on Thursday, April 26th from
3:30 to 5:00 in ILC 140. This informal career discussion will provide an
opportunity for associate professors and continuing status professionals to
talk about pathways and strategies for success in advancing from associate
to full with colleagues in their disciplines. The panel will be chaired by
Professor Judith Bronstein in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
Department. This panel is being coordinated with the Association of Women
Faculty and Minority Women Faculty. RSVP for this workshop to Julia
Balestracci at jbalestracci at vpr.arizona.edu or 626-6697
