The Recruiting and Outreach Committee wishes to congratulate the High School
student researchers in Dr. Betsy Arnold's lab !

These students, mentored by Dr. Arnold and members of the Arnold lab (Jakob
riddle, Chan Jung, Frankie Orozoco and Nick Massimo: http://arnoldlab.net),
have been recognized for excellence at recent science fairs and symposia and
have been selected to participate in national and international
competitions. All of these students are interested in majoring in Plant
Sciences or Microbiology upon enrolling next year at the UA! Congratulations
to these students for their achievements and to the Arnold lab for their
energy and commitment to helping these young researchers realize their
goals. These students will be a great asset to the Plant Sciences
undergraduate program in future years. 

Ochana Otto, Senior, Tucson High . A Newly Discovered Microbial Symbiosis
Protects Important Crop Plants Against Severe Drought
Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair Awards: 1st Place,
with cash/scholarship awards from the Catalina Rotary Club and Phi Beta
Association.
Arizona Junior Science and Humanities Symposium Awards: $1500 scholarship;
all-expenses paid trip to the national Junior Science and Humanities
Symposia in Bethesda, MD (http://www.jshs.org/).
