RE:            NSF MAJOR RESEARCH INSTRUMENTATION (MRI) PROGRAM - 2012

The Office of the Senior Vice President for Research is accepting
pre-proposals for the 2012 Major Research Instrumentation Program. The
guidelines for the program can be found at
http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2011/nsf11503/nsf11503.htm.  

 

Proposals must be submitted to the NSF Fast Lane no later than 5 PM on
January 26, 2012.  The University may submit 3 proposals and at least one
must be for instrument development.  The pre-proposal should consist of: 

 

(1) no more than a two-page summary of the proposed program

(2) curriculum vitae of the nominee

(3) a brief memo indicating the expertise and resources that the faculty
member brings to the research, how the proposal fits with the strategic
emphasis of the respective College and the University, and the competitive
advantage of the proposal nationally.  

 

All pre-proposals should be ranked by the Dean of each college. If more than
three are received, a committee of peers will be convened to select the
University's candidates.  Please forward pre-proposals to this office by
Monday, December 5, 2011.
